Our first Adda on July 25, 2026

We met with friends from different walks of life for our very first ‘Adda’. And what happened? We made new connections, met old friends, shared important ideas about our identity as South Asians in the Bay Area and more! And good food (always a plus)!

Join us for the first South Asians in Silicon Valley Adda!

Thank you to everyone who has already RSVP-ed. We are excited to share the details for our first Adda, a community salon inspired by the Bengali word for a casual gathering where people come together for lively conversation, reflection, and exchange.

This gathering is part of the next stage of the South Asians in Silicon Valley initiative. We hope to create a welcoming space for artists, scholars, writers, innovators, civic leaders, community members, and other engaged voices to meet, share ideas, and build relationships across fields and generations.

Date: Saturday, July 25, 2026
Time: 3:00–5:00 PM
Venue: The Eden Gardens restaurant, San Jose

Save the date: South Asians in Silicon Valley “Adda”

As we look toward the next stage of the South Asians in Silicon Valley initiative, we are planning a recurring salon inspired by adda, a Bengali word for a casual gathering where friends come together for lively conversation, reflection, and exchange.

Our hope is that this gathering will create a welcoming space for artists, scholars, writers, innovators, civic leaders, community members, and other engaged voices to meet, share ideas, and build relationships across fields and generations.

Date: July 25

While the world is watching the 2026 FIFA World Cup, we’re also taking a moment to spotlight another beloved global sport: cricket.

Cricket is one of the most popular sports across South Asia and throughout the South Asian diaspora. This photo offers a glimpse of a cricket academy in Milpitas, a reminder of how the sport continues to build community, culture, and connection here in Silicon Valley.

Welcome to the official page of the South Asians in Silicon Valley initiative at the SJSU King Library.

We record, preserve, and share the living legacy and impact of South Asians in the San Francisco Bay Area by curating digital and in-person exhibits. We host events where professionals in different fields come together for conversations about their respective field's impact.

From social activism to community journalism to theater to practice of religions to food and music, the South Asian story of Silicon Valley is being documented by us.

We define South Asia as per SAARC: https://www.saarc-sec.org/
