A young father. A minority citizen. A Customs officer returning from official training.

Bullet Bairagi was found dead near the Dhaka–Chattogram Highway after going missing in , . Police describe it as a mugging, but justice requires the full truth.

calls for a transparent, evidence-based investigation into the complete motive behind his killing—including whether his minority identity, official position, or broader patterns of targeted violence played any role.

A robbery explanation, even if proven, must not obscure any additional motive or pattern of minority vulnerability.

Another Hindu Priest Found Dead: Recovery of Nayan Sadhu’s Body Raises Alarm Over Growing Attacks on Religious Figures in Bangladesh

Nayan Sadhu, a Hindu temple priest from Khurushkul, Cox’s Bazar, was missing for 3 days before his body was recovered from a forest under suspicious circumstances.

HRCBM’s field team visited the spot, recorded eyewitness testimonies, and found alarming similarities with previous suspicious deaths of Hindu priests across Bangladesh.

From Sukumar Das in Sitakunda to Nayan Sadhu in Cox’s Bazar, a troubling pattern is emerging—priests, temple caretakers, and religious figures found dead while families demand justice.

Even police suggested that CID or a specialized body may be needed for a proper investigation.

This is not just one death. It is a serious human rights concern involving minority security, rule of law, and justice.

We demand:
• Immediate impartial investigation
• Full forensic transparency
• Protection for minority religious leaders
• Accountability for perpetrators

Silence enables impunity.

Between June–December 2025, 433 incidents impacting minority communities were reported across 45 of 64 districts in Bangladesh.

Given systemic underreporting, the actual figures are likely significantly higher.
Urgent attention and accountability are required.

🔴 Urgent Appeal: Indigenous Communities Under Attack in Guimara–Khagrachari 🔴

On September 27–28, 2025, Indigenous communities in Guimara and Khagrachari came under violent assault following peaceful protests demanding justice for the gang r**e of a Marma minor girl.

📍 What happened:

At least 5 confirmed Indigenous deaths (with unconfirmed reports of up to 7).

Over 15 injured, many with gunshot wounds requiring urgent surgery.

5 persons missing, feared abducted or killed.

More than 60 shops and 15 homes burned and looted, displacing entire families.

Video and photographic evidence provided by community members shows Bangladesh Army personnel and Bengali settler groups allegedly involved in indiscriminate firing, arson, and assaults.

⚠️ Why this matters:
These atrocities are not isolated. They reflect a decades-long cycle of militarization, dispossession, and impunity in the Chittagong Hill Tracts. The Guimara–Khagrachari tragedy echoes earlier pogroms in Longadu and Logang — a reminder that Indigenous rights in Bangladesh remain under grave threat.

🙏 Our call to action:

Stand in solidarity with Indigenous peoples of the CHT.

Share this report widely to break the silence.

Demand urgent accountability and protection for vulnerable communities.

⚠️ BREAKING: Over 18 attacks across 16 districts of have targeted communities preparing for Durga Puja. Durga idols were mutilated, temples and homes vandalized — an assault on both human dignity and cultural heritage.

Durga Puja is not just a festival: in 2021 UNESCO inscribed “Durga Puja” on its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, recognizing it as a living tradition that unites art, ritual, and community identity.

Yet a stark disparity persists:

• Blasphemy allegations — often stemming from hacked or manipulated social media posts — have led to swift arrests and prosecutions of minorities without credible digital forensic review.
• By contrast, when physical attacks occur on minority places of worship or desecration of idols, state accountability and effective prosecution are far less visible.

This raises serious concerns under Bangladesh’s obligations to uphold freedom of religion, equality before law, and protection of cultural heritage under international human rights standards.

Desecrating idols and attacking temples on the eve of a UNESCO-recognized festival is not only communal violence — it is a violation of cultural rights and an affront to humanity’s shared heritage.
