What happens when Fellows work together? Craft fairs💫

Ashley of Destination: Home and Elizabeth of Lived Experience Advisory Board of Silicon Valley created the Affordable Housing Tour and Craft Fair this . If you didn't get to make it, it was a chance to connect and support local artists and residents of affordable housing in the area. Crafts, t-shirts, baking sets, poems, paintings, and more were on display for neighbors to support other neighbors.

Quetzal Gardens, a 70 unit affordable development created by Resources for Community Development, was the host of the evening.

This event was a result of real work, reaching across industries, knocking on doors, and putting the community first. It really showed in the warmth that filled the space.

This is Keanna 💫 A Brick by Brick Fellow this year.

Keanna brings lived experience, strategic vision, and deep community roots to her work in affordable housing advocacy. A Jackson State and NYU alum with a background spanning communications, event production, and advocacy, she now calls Silicon Valley home.

This May, Keanna put her event planning skills and community connections to work hosting an Affordable Housing Resource Fair for , connecting attendees with the resources they need to navigate our housing system.

Having personally experienced homelessness, Keanna's commitment to housing justice is rooted in both heart and lived reality. She's here to challenge systemic barriers, amplify community voices, and help build a future where everyone can access safe, stable housing. 💜

Today marks the close of Affordable Housing Month, and we want to speak directly to everyone who was part of it.

Thank you. To our partners, sponsors, donors, and collaborators. To every attendee, every host, every Fellow, every person who gave their time and voice to this work across Silicon Valley.

You showed up to over 60 events. Dozens of organizations and hundreds of conversations that needed to happen.

We debated. We shared. We connected with people who care deeply about this issue, and some who are just joining us. It felt different this month.

This work is about the long-term health, stability, and prosperity of our communities. And to build that future requires all of us to stay in relationship and to keep showing up, even when the momentum of a single month fades.

So don't let this be the end of something. Let it be the beginning. Stay connected to us and our partners. Come to the next event (because there will be many more). Ask questions. Keep learning. Donate. Vote. Become a member. Reach out. https://siliconvalleyathome.org/ways-to-support-svhome/

The stakes are too high for us to lose sight of our shared purpose. We are grateful. We are energized. And we are not done.

is doing the work to actively support families and keep affordable housing a reality here in our communities ✔️

For , their team shed light on how recent federal policy changes and funding uncertainty are impacting affordable housing at the local, state, and federal levels.

We also got a look at their newly adopted Strategic Plan, which will guide their work over the next five years and shape how the agency partners with communities to address our housing needs.

Teachers shape our kids’ futures, but who’s making sure they can afford to live here? Developers like .

Today we got an inside look at The Acacia in Palo Alto, a housing complex built specifically for educators. 110 affordable homes for teachers and school staff in one of the most expensive zip codes in the country.

Special thanks to for this project & inviting the community in this AHM. Thank you for being so open about what’s worked, what hasn’t, and the lessons learned during a specialty project like this.

When we invest in innovative, intentionally designed projects like one, we invest in the wellbeing of our whole community.
