What a wonderful evening celebrating the people who help make the San Geronimo Valley such a special place.

On Wednesday, community members gathered for the Healthy Community Collaborative’s Volunteer Appreciation BBQ and Edie Robinson Awards Ceremony to recognize the volunteers whose dedication, generosity, and leadership strengthen our Valley every day.

Congratulations to 2025 Edie Robinson Award recipients John and Marcia Gunnarson, honored for their extraordinary volunteerism, environmental stewardship, civic leadership, and decades of service to our community.

We also celebrated 2026 honoree Michael McQuilkin, whose Family Music Hour and countless community events have brought joy, connection, creativity, and belonging to people of all ages.

Thank you to every volunteer who gives their time and talents to make our community stronger. We are grateful for all you do.

A generous anonymous donor has offered a $10,000 matching gift to our Rooted Here Spring Campaign.

That means every donation made today will be matched dollar for dollar, helping twice as many neighbors access the programs, support, and connection that make our community stronger.

For more than 50 years, the San Geronimo Valley Community Center has been a place where people come together — to learn, create, celebrate, find support, and build meaningful connections.

Watch this short video from our new Director of Advancement, Jessica O’Connell, to learn more about the campaign and why this work matters.

If you believe in helping families, older adults, and neighbors in the San Geronimo Valley, Nicasio, and Greater West Marin stay rooted here, now is the perfect time to give.

“This is my happy place.” “I love it here.”

That’s how longtime community members and volunteers Pat McGraw and Jeanine Chavin describe the Community Center.

Each week, older adults across our community gather here to share meals, stay active, build friendships, volunteer, laugh, sing, play Mahjong, and stay connected to the people and place they love.

Because aging well is about so much more than services—it’s about belonging.

As part of our Rooted Here Spring Campaign, we’re working to raise $150,000 to ensure older adults across San Geronimo, Nicasio, and West Marin can continue to age in place with dignity, vitality, and connection.

Aging well, together.

When you invest in the Community Center, you are investing in young people right here in our community.

Meet Aiden, an 8th grader at Lagunitas Community School. Through our VAST tutoring program, Aiden worked alongside his tutor Julie to strengthen his writing skills, build confidence, and prepare for high school.

But this story is about more than academics. It’s about mentorship, encouragement, connection, and having a place where you feel supported and seen.

Programs like VAST help ensure that local students have access to the tools, relationships, and opportunities they need to thrive.

This is what it means to be rooted here.

As part of our Rooted Here Spring Campaign, we are working to raise $150,000 by June 30 to sustain and grow programs like this for youth and families across our community.

When you give, you are investing in students like Aiden—and in the future of this community.

Rooted Here. Giving Here. Growing Together.

Last chance to experience the Community Center’s annual Spring Art Show.

Featuring over 100 local artists, ages 5 to 90, the show brings together one piece from each artist across a range of mediums—mixed media, sculpture, oil painting, watercolor, and more. The talent in this community is truly something special.

The opening night was full of energy, connection, music, and celebration, with the Valley and Nicasio communities coming together to support one another and be inspired by the creativity on display. It was a powerful reminder of how art and gathering bring people closer, spark joy, and create space for expression.

The Spring Art Show is on view through May 17. Stop by this weekend to see it.

Gratitude to photographer Donn DeAngelo for the amazing artist portraits!

There is something powerful about being rooted in community—knowing your neighbors, feeling supported, and having a place where you truly belong.
In this video, Executive Director Alexa Davidson shares why the San Geronimo Valley, Nicasio, and greater Marin, and the people who call this place home, matter so deeply.

Today, we’re launching our Rooted Here Spring Campaign with a goal of raising $150,000 by June 30. This is a moment to invest locally in the people who live, work, raise families, and grow older here.

Because in Marin, the rising cost of living is pushing people out. At the Community Center, we’re working to make sure they don’t have to.

When you give, you help your neighbors stay rooted and strengthen the fabric of this community.

Rooted here. Giving here. Growing together.
