Firefighters face some of the highest toxic exposures of any profession — and they need clinicians who understand how to support their unique environmental health needs.

We’re excited to offer a Firefighter Health & Toxic Exposure Clinical Training on April 23 in Long Beach (with a virtual option available).

The training shares the clinical approaches IHAN has developed through years of supporting firefighters across California — including exposure assessment, specialty testing, and evidence-informed detoxification strategies.

Who this is for:
Designed primarily for Naturopathic Doctors (CEs available). Naturopathic medical students are welcome, and other integrative clinicians with an interest in environmental health and firefighter care are invited to attend.

Training details:
April 23, 2026 | Long Beach, CA
In-person + virtual options
Up to 7 CEs (NDs only)
Limited in-person spots

Our goal is to grow a network of clinicians prepared to care for those who keep our communities safe.

Registration is open!

As we close out this year, we’re pausing to reflect on what has been built together—and the many people and partnerships that made it all possible.

This year at IHAN included:
🔥 An extended disaster response in Los Angeles following the Eaton & Palisades fires
🔥 Our first Los Angeles–based firefighter detoxification cohort, fully funded by
🔥 Our third and fourth firefighter detoxification cohorts in Sonoma County
🔥 Ongoing integrative health clinics for firefighters here locally in Sonoma County

This work was all carried out in close partnership with our dear friends at the , alongside a growing network of collaborators committed to firefighter health, prevention, and environmental medicine.

We were deeply honored to attend the Phase One Gala and to have IHAN and VFF’s work featured alongside Phase One’s cancer research initiatives—bringing real hope for meaningful change in firefighter health and wellness, especially in relation to environmental health.

We’re grateful for the expansion of our education efforts this year, offering learning spaces focused on detoxification and environmental health, and for the many new partnerships that emerged through this work.

In Los Angeles, we were honored to partner with , who provided trauma-informed acupuncture at all of our first responder clinics.

We’re also proud to share national recognition of our team’s leadership. Drs. Riegle, Holder, and Jeane were honored with Physician of the Year awards through the , and IHAN was recognized as a Champion of Naturopathic Medicine through .

To our volunteers, donors, partners, collaborators, and the firefighters and families who trusted us this year—thank you. As we look toward 2026, we truly feel like this is just the beginning, and we couldn’t do this work without you. 🌱

Call into the Board of Pharmacy Meeting now to fight for our firefighters' access to nebulized glutathione, a critical lung treatment.

Thank you, NBC LA for your thoughtful investigative piece on the California State Board of Pharmacy’s baffling restrictions, which limit access to this essential treatment outside of the Firefighter Detox Clinics we run with Volunteer Fire Foundation and Acupuncturists Without Borders or a doctor’s office.

Today (March 6) is our last chance to speak up. The Board of Pharmacy is voting on new regulations that could permanently restrict self-administered nebulized glutathione—despite it being FDA-allowed, safe, and available in 49 other states.

Last Friday, the Board proposed an updated version of the regulations that removed most restrictive language around glutathione, but we need firefighters and supporters to call in today to ensure they don’t backtrack.

You can still join the meeting! Call-in details, talking points, and everything you need are at www.volunteerfire.org/stop-bop.

This is the moment. Let’s make our voices heard!

We are so proud of what our team has accomplished together!! Thank you Press Democrat for sharing our story.

Our last scheduled weekend in LA is this weekend. We are actively fundraising to continue offering crucial care in Southern California as well as for our Northern California firefighters who were deployed to the Eaton and Palisades fires.

So grateful for all our amazing volunteers and donors for making this work possible!!

First responders who endured heavy exposure to toxic smoke in the Los Angeles fires are now getting care from Sonoma County’s Integrative Healers Action Network.

After the Palisades and Eaton Fires, we keep hearing the same thing from firefighters: “This feels like our 9/11.” The chemical exposures from burning buildings, electric cars, and other hazardous materials are already causing serious health concerns. Many are scared about long-term risks like cancer, and for good reason. We’ve seen this before.

That’s why early intervention and consecutive treatments are critical. At IHAN, in partnership with Volunteer Fire Foundation and Acupuncturists Without Borders, we’re helping first responders detox and recover with therapies like nebulized and IV glutathione, naturopathic medicine, massage, chiropractic care, acupuncture, clinical homeopathy, and HeartMath. Our integrative care model focuses on whole-person healing, addressing the physical and emotional toll of their work.

💙 We can’t afford to wait. Let’s support those who protect us.

🚨 Urgent Call to Action 🚨

Starting today at 11 AM, the California Board of Pharmacy will vote on regulations that could severely limit access to life-changing treatments for first responders—including glutathione, a powerful antioxidant used to help firefighters clear toxins and recover from intense smoke exposure.

As highlighted in this Press Democrat article, glutathione has been a game-changer for firefighters battling the health impacts of toxic smoke exposure. The wellness programs we've provided in LA this past month in partnership with Volunteer Fire Foundation and Acupuncturists Without Borders have delivered over 3,000 integrative treatments, with first responders reporting better breathing, increased energy, and faster recovery.

🔥 These treatments help prevent long-term damage, including respiratory illnesses and increased cancer risks. Without access to compounded glutathione, many of our firefighters and those suffering from conditions like Lyme disease, long COVID, and chronic fatigue syndrome could lose critical relief.

💬 Here’s how you can help:
We need your voice! Call in at 11 AM today to tell the California Board of Pharmacy that this regulation would put the health of our heroes at risk. Let them know that access to these treatments is non-negotiable.

Our first responders have risked their lives to protect us—now it’s our turn to protect them.

With its lung-healing properties, this antioxidant could be “an absolute game-changer” for firefighters -- if the state’s Board of Pharmacy doesn’t make it prohibitively expensive.

Our hearts are breaking for the communities impacted by the devastating LA wildfires. Since the 2017 Tubbs Fire in our hometown of Santa Rosa, we’ve seen the profound effects of wildfires on our community and others throughout California. The mental, emotional, and physical toll—trauma, sleepless nights, respiratory issues, pain, and stress—lingers long after the flames are gone. That’s why we’re deploying to offer real-time trauma healing and environmental health support.

We’re actively organizing volunteers and fundraising to make this possible as we finalize our clinic location at either a shelter or firefighter base camp. We need practitioners to provide massage therapy, acupuncture, naturopathic medicine, homeopathy, chiropractic care, yoga, and mindfulness, as well as critical admin support to keep everything running smoothly. Community connection is at the heart of this work—if you’re ready to help, join us in supporting evacuees and first responders when they need it most.

About Integrative Healers Action Network

Integrative Healers Action Network (IHAN) was established in October 2017 during the Tubbs Fire in Sonoma County, which at the time was the most destructive wildfire in California history. We work tirelessly to fulfill our mission of providing acute and long-term care to communities impacted by emergency situations by providing integrative healing modalities through systems that bridge medicines and emergency response organizations.

During emergency response situations, individuals and communities are in an acute stage of crisis and trauma. The efforts of IHAN aim to provide backbone support to safely and effectively coordinate and deploy licensed and certified practitioners of complementary and alternative (CAM) modalities to provide acute and long-term care to communities impacted by emergency situations. To accomplish this, we establish a network of verified practitioners who are qualified to volunteer during emergency response situations. We create bridges between organizations responsible for community outreach and emergency response, as well as establish systems to support integrative healing systems in the community for the longer-term recovery phase. To support these efforts, we provide applicable training to prepare practitioners and provide oversight of CAM clinics within shelters and other emergency locations. Additionally, we focus on ensuring outreach and service to traditionally underserved members of the community.
