🔥 SPOKANE RESPONSE UPDATE

Since Sunday 8/9, IHAN and Volunteer Fire Foundation have been on the ground at the Spokane Complex Fire Incident Command Post providing care to those working across the response.

In just five days, our teams provided more than 1,600 treatments to over 600 firefighters and other first responders, many of whom were able to return for multiple treatments during our time at ICP.

Those we provided care for included local, out-of-county, and out-of-state firefighters, Spokane Police, county sheriff’s personnel, National Guard members, and members of the Incident Command team.

Our volunteer clinical team offered free integrative medical and health support, including nebulized and IV glutathione, acupuncture, and targeted supplements to support sleep, stress resilience, respiratory health, immune health, detoxification, and GI health.

This afternoon we wrapped up this initial stage of our clinics as the fire response transitions, but our work in Spokane continues.

This weekend, IHAN and VFF are moving into a local clinic space to continue offering free care to firefighters and first responders from departments throughout the Spokane area.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who trusted us with their care, our incredible volunteer clinicians, and the Spokane community that rallied around this response.

Help us keep showing up for those who show up for our communities.

WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS IN SPOKANE!

IHAN + Volunteer Fire Foundation were invited by Spokane Incident Command leadership to provide acute, integrative medical support for firefighters and first responders during the wildfire response. We are now embedded at the Spokane Fairgrounds basecamp as part of the Incident Command response infrastructure, and we’ll be here providing care through Thursday, August 13.

And the need is real. In just four hours today, our rockstar volunteer team provided over 250 treatments to firefighters here at basecamp. And we’re running a second shift tonight.

Firefighters are incredibly appreciative to receive these treatments. We’re so grateful to hear people sharing that they can feel the impact of the treatments immediately, whether it’s support for smoke exposure and respiratory health, detoxification, stress, sleep, nervous system regulation, or overall recovery.

Now we need more hands. 🙏

We’re looking for NDs, RNs, NPs, MDs, DOs, licensed mental health therapists, certified HeartMath practitioners, acupuncturists, and admin/front desk volunteers.

WA + CA licensed providers are welcome. NDs licensed in other states, please reach out directly if you would like to volunteer.

This is deeply rewarding, hands-on work and a unique opportunity to support firefighters right where they are, during an active wildfire response. If you can give us a shift, a day, or several days, we would love to have you.

You MUST register and complete IHAN’s volunteer vetting process before joining the response.

👉 Register through the link in our bio or scan the QR code.

Please share this widely with your networks in Washington and California. Every additional volunteer means more firefighters can receive care while we’re here. ❤️‍🔥

Fire season 2026 has officially begun — and we are preparing to serve the firefighters who will be serving all of us. 🔥

Fire departments across California, from Santa Barbara to Sonoma County, have already declared fire season early, weeks ahead of the historical average. With over 54.000 acres already burned statewide and thousands of firefighting personnel already deployed, the season is here.

When firefighters are exposed to toxic smoke, chemicals, and the cumulative strain of the job, the window for intervention matters. Toxic compounds accumulate in the body immediately. The nervous system moves into survival mode, often staying there long after the fire is out. Through our partnership with , we deploy directly to firefighter basecamps, helping first responders recover, restore, and return to service.

Since the destructive Tubbs Fire in 2017, IHAN and have delivered more than 6,600 integrative health treatments and supported more than 2,200 firefighters across California — detox support, acupuncture (with our partners ), naturopathic medicine, bodywork, nervous system regulation, and whole-person care for the people who run toward danger so the rest of us don’t have to.

We are launching our 2026 California Fire Season Preparedness Campaign with a goal of raising $25,000 — and a stretch goal of $50,000 to fully deploy and run clinics when disaster strikes.

A critical toxic chemical incident is unfolding in Garden Grove, Orange County — and we are closely watching.

A storage tank at GKN Aerospace is leaking methyl methacrylate, a highly flammable and toxic industrial compound. Over 44,000 residents have been evacuated. Conditions remain volatile and so much is still unknown.

First responders are running toward the hazard so the rest of us don’t have to. At IHAN, in partnership with , we have been pioneers in the field of environmental health for firefighters — and we are preparing to deploy our detox and wellness clinics when it is safe to do so.

To those in or near Orange County — we are holding you in our hearts. 🧡 And to every first responder on the ground — thank you.

There are moments when you can feel this work growing. And last weekend was one of them.

Being back in Long Beach with our partners at for our Firefighter Health & Toxic Exposure Training & Clinic and conference felt like an important moment for this work. Being in the room with so many thoughtful, committed practitioners, and reconnecting with our SoCal IHAN community, was incredibly energizing.

We were especially excited to offer our first full-day clinical training, bringing together education and hands-on care in service of firefighter health. This training is a big part of how we’re growing this work by expanding our firefighter health and detox programs and building a network of clinicians equipped to support communities impacted by wildfire and toxic exposure.

It was also so great to reconnect with some of the Long Beach and LA-area firefighters we’ve had the honor of working with! We’re grateful for your trust and for the opportunity to continue supporting your health.

The training was recorded and is now available online.

For NDs, 4 CEs are available through CNDA over the next two years.

If this work resonates, we’d love for you to join us, or share with a colleague who might be interested.

We’re deeply grateful to all the partners who made this training possible. A big thank you to for inviting us to offer this as a pre-conference training and for supporting CE issuance, and to for hosting us.

A special thank you to our LA-based IHAN naturopathic doctors who helped lead the hands-on clinical portion, we’re so grateful for your dedication to this work. And to for their silver sponsorship support. We’re grateful to be in collaboration with organizations that share our commitment to this work.

And grateful for this growing community and the work we’re building together!

We are at an important moment in the evolution of the work IHAN and have been building together over the years to support firefighter health and recovery.

Fire departments across California are reaching out for support, especially around toxic exposure and long-term health.

The need is growing faster than we can meet it.

One of the most important ways we expand this work is by training more clinicians.

Our Firefighter Health & Environmental Exposure Training is happening next week in Long Beach.

✴️ Morning: didactic training led by our naturopathic medical team
✴️ Afternoon: hands-on clinical experience supporting local firefighters
✴️ Virtual option available

If you’re a clinician, or know someone who is, this is a powerful way to get involved.

We’re nearing capacity for in-person spots.

Link in bio to register.

Deep gratitude to our Silver Sponsor, (McGuff Medical Products and McGuff Outsourcing Solutions (503B)), whose support is helping make this training possible and expand this work supporting firefighter health and recovery.
