Established in 2019, Society for Africans in Diaspora (SAiD Institute) is a non-profit institution that provides art, culture, connection and enrichment through educational and community building programs for Africans in the Diaspora. Based in Houston, Texas, SAiD Institute is uniquely positioned as one of few spaces for creatives and freethinkers to focus exclusively on African culture across the
global diaspora, and to present the rich cultural heritage of the people of African descent. SAiD Institute is proud to be a space where one can explore and discover the culture, history, art, and multi-faceted contributions of African people. SAiD Institute has worked tirelessly to raise awareness about Africa among Americans and to strengthen relations between Africa and the United States. This is accomplished by our educating the public in the study of the African narrative, cultures, leadership and achievement. We also foster African-America partnership, friendship and cross-cultural exchange through select tours in Africa and the United States, as well as host lectures, conferences, awards and other events on both side of the Atlantic. Since inception, Said is proud to have impacted over 1 million individuals through our events and activities; 29 businesses through community development projects; partnered with nearly 650 leaders to strengthen communities of the diaspora; and engaged over 200 creatives through creative expression programs.
