What to expect: we’ll sit by the sea as the sky changes color and turn the sunset into our own watercolor paintings, guided by artist Katerina Chrysolie . All materials provided — you’ll get your own watercolor set and paper, no experience needed. Around 7:20 PM we’ll put down our brushes and watch the sunset together.

📍Trojan Point, Mount Tamalpais

Trojan Point is one of the best sunset viewpoints in the Bay Area. Perched on Mount Tamalpais, it offers panoramic views of the San Francisco skyline, the Pacific Ocean, and, on the right day, a breathtaking cloud inversion (the feeling of standing above the clouds)

On this evening, everyone in San Francisco was talking about the incredible pink sky. Instead of watching it from the city, we were on top of Mount Tamalpais, looking out at the entire San Francisco skyline glowing pink in the distance.

As if that wasn’t enough, we also witnessed a beautiful cloud inversion, where the fog settled below us like a sea of clouds.

It usually happens when the marine layer is strong but stays below the elevation of Mount Tamalpais (around 2,000 ft). If you’re hoping to catch it, check the weather forecast for the marine layer depth before heading up.

Quick tips before you go:
🧺 Bring a picnic mat
🧥 Bring a jacket — it gets cold after sunset
🗺️ Set Trojan Point on your maps and drive a little further for a free parking spot. Cross the road, follow the small marked trail, and you’ll arrive at the most beautiful open area.
