Since inception, the Farwest Region has meaningfully contributed to the growth, leadership and vitality of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated; beginning with the chartering of the first Farwest chapter at the University of California at Berkeley in 1921. Affectionately known as the Fabulous Farwest, the region is now comprised of nearly 90 chapters located iin Alaska, Arizona, California, Ha

waii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington; as well as international chapters in Japan (Okinawa and Tokyo) and the Republic of Korea (Seoul).

June is Pride Month

The Farwest Region proudly celebrates the vibrant spectrum within our Sisterhood and throughout our communities.
We recognize that our strength is found in the diversity of experiences, identities, perspectives, and voices that make our world richer and more connected. During Pride Month, we honor the contributions, leadership, and lived experiences of our LGBTQIA+ Sorors, family members, friends, colleagues, and community partners.

As women committed to Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service, and Social Action, we affirm the importance of creating spaces where every person is treated with dignity, valued for who they are, and empowered to live authentically.

This month and every month, we celebrate the beauty of diversity, the power of inclusion, and the humanity that connects us all.

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth — a day that reminds us that freedom delayed is not freedom denied.

As we honor the resilience, strength, and sacrifices of those who came before us, we also celebrate the progress that has been made and recommit ourselves to the work that remains.
Juneteenth is more than a historical milestone; it is a call to remember, to educate, to uplift, and to continue building a future rooted in justice, equity, and opportunity for all.

At the 2024 Farwest Regional Conference in Hawaii, we had the honor of sitting down with one of our beloved Delta Dears and asking what she wanted new Sorors to know about Delta Sigma Theta.

Her answer was simple, yet powerful:
“[Deltas] will take care of you.”

Those few words capture the heart of our Sisterhood. Through life’s celebrations and challenges, victories and setbacks, Delta provides a network of women who encourage, support, uplift, and stand beside one another. It is a bond that extends far beyond chapter meetings and conferences—it is a lifelong commitment to caring for one another.

Thank you, Soror Johnson, for reminding us what makes our Sisterhood so special.

Now, in just 100 days, the 55th Farwest Regional Conference kicks off with Impact Day as we gather for a week of Sisterhood, service, leadership, and legacy.

This year’s theme, “Scripted by Sisterhood: Stories That Shape a Century of Service,” honors the impact and stories that continue to shape our region across generations.
And trust us… we have a few surprises up our sleeves that we can’t wait to share.
