There are moments in a season that stay with you forever. Not because of the final score, but because of the people you shared them with.
To our 2011 Girls,
For many of you, San Francisco Elite isnโt just the club you play for. Itโs the club that raised you. Some of you have worn this crest for nearly your entire soccer journey. For some, it is the only club youโve ever known. Weโve watched you grow from little girls chasing a ball into young women capable of competing with the very best in the country.
This week, you carried San Francisco Elite all the way to the ECNL RL National Championship.
You fought until the very last second.
You fell just short.
And while that hurts today, it should never overshadow what you accomplished.
Seven clean sheets. Fifteen goals. A national championship appearance. And a group made up largely of 2012 players who never let playing a year up define what they believed they could accomplish. Those are accomplishments to be incredibly proud of, but they are not what we will remember most.
We will remember the little girls who grew up in this club becoming the players who carried our crest onto one of the biggest stages in youth soccer. Weโll remember your belief in one another. The way you defended every inch of the field. The joy you played with. The resilience you showed every time the moment demanded a little more.
Sometimes the hardest lesson in sport is that your best can still end one goal short. That doesnโt make the journey any less remarkable.
One day, when enough time has passed, we hope this week is remembered for more than the final result. We hope you remember the teammates beside you, the families behind you, the coaches who believed in you, and the realization that you belong on stages like this.
Because you do.
Watching your growth over the years has been one of the greatest privileges our club has had. We could not be more proud of the players youโve become, and we cannot wait to watch you continue writing your story.
This is not the end of your story.
Itโs only the beginning.
