Yesterday was a historic day for CARECEN SF. 🎉
We celebrated the Mural Unveiling and Ribbon Cutting for our new community resource center at 1117 Market Street, marking 40 years of standing with Central American and immigrant communities in San Francisco.
This isn't just a new space, it's a milestone. A moment 40 years in the making, built on the vision of the Salvadoran refugees and allies who founded CARECEN SF in 1986, and carried forward by everyone who has believed in this mission since.
Thank you to Mayor Daniel Lurie, Supervisor Matt Dorsey, and Senator Scott Wiener for joining us and standing with our community. Thank you to our CARECEN SF Board for their vision and leadership. And thank you to our incredible staff, who work every single day to turn this dream into reality.
A special thank you to Josué Rojas for the incredible mural that now lives on our facade. This mural is a reflection of who we are: our culture, the beauty of our communities, and the journeys of people who migrate. Every person who walks by will see a piece of our story woven into the heart of our beloved city.
But at the heart of everything we do are our clients and our youth. Every program, every service, every door we open exists to nurture the leaders you're becoming. We're building toward a future where you carry this work forward: as organizers, advocates, parents, and leaders who keep contributing to our migrant communities and pushing San Francisco, our country, and our world closer to justice.
Here's to the next 40 years, and the generations of leaders still to come. 💛
