Felton Institute was founded in 1889 and responds to human needs by providing cutting edge, evidence-based mental health and social services that transform lives. Offering more than 50 acclaimed and honored programs that address homelessness, mental health, prenatal, adolescent, adult and senior needs, Felton Institute provides services in San Francisco, Alameda, San Mateo, Marin, and Monterey counties. Felton is named for its social services pioneer and executive director Dr. Katharine “Kitty” Felton who was called the ”conscience of San Francisco” and was committed to ensuring that children and families in crisis have access to social services and resources in order to help them build upon their inherent strengths and develop self-sufficiency.

Felton is a proud partner of the Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF). LIIF is a nonprofit Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) believes high-quality affordable housing, early care and education, educational opportunities and good jobs are key to individuals’ and communities’ well-being.

As a longtime advocate for equity and access, Dr. Yohana Quiroz—Felton’s Chief Operating Officer and Capital Development Director—also serves as a dedicated board member of LIIF. She was honored to welcome LIIF’s Board of Directors for a special site tour of Solmar Learning Center (SLC), where they had the opportunity to witness firsthand how investment in early education creates lasting impact for children, families, and entire communities.

We celebrated Felton's ECE 15th Annual Preschool Graduation: “Cradle to College” — a joyful milestone honoring the journeys of our young graduates and the community that uplifts them.

This year’s celebration was extra special with Felton ECE alumnus, Marvin Adan Montoya, as our keynote speaker. Marvin shared his inspiring story from preschool to college and now, full circle, as an elementary school educator. We were also treated to heartwarming performances from our graduates, led by Andres Cepeda.

At Felton, our Early Care & Education (ECE) program is dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing environment where every child is seen, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential. Thank you to our families, educators, staff, directors, community partners, and funders — and to San Francisco State University for hosting this memorable event.
