SFSU Project Censored 2017-18

SFSU Project Censored 2017-18 We are part of a larger initiative that empowers students to take the media in their own hands and help restore media democracy and literacy to our world.

At Project Censored - SF State, we focus on Constructive News, exploring solutions and creative possibilities within communities. We also emphasize Generative Journalism and Appreciative Inquiry - which focus on a developmental search for the best in people, their organizations, and the world around them. These approaches involve asking questions that strengthen a system's capacity to explore and

actualize the best possible outcome in any community situation. Project Censored - SF State is one of the 18 affiliate campuses providing media research and validated independent news stories for an annual book on media issues and a weekly radio program (podcast) about independent news stories for 40 stations across the country. We select and verify independent media stories not appearing in corporate news, and submit these validated independent news stories to be voted on by students and faculty on multiple participating campuses. Each April, the Top 25 News Stories are selected for public announcement and for publication in an annual book – published by 7 Stories Press and used in classrooms around the country as a popular source of media studies. Join the Constructive Media Revolution!
