On May 25th, 50+ people gathered to learn about the .norcal campaign and hear from delegates of the October 2025 International Learning & Solidarity Mission who integrated with communities resisting corporate plunder and repression in Negros. Attendees also made art and prop for the upcoming .us mass mobilization against the use of tech/AI for fascism, war, plunder, and exploitation happening on June 1st!

In the wake of the April 19th massacre of 19 people in Negros, ILSM delegates have been red-tagged by right-wing trolls in the Philippines, who used AI to manipulate an image of them with RJ Ledesma, one of the Negros 19. Additionally, the Defend Negros Norcal campaign is calling for an investigation into US technology, weapons, and funding used in the massacre, especially in light of community reports of drone sightings in the area.

Join us for upcoming events:

👂May 29th: Tune in for an info session with updates on the political situation in Negros and plans to caravan to Sac on June 2nd!
📢June 1st: March with us in SF to amplify the calls against tech for U.S.-backed war crimes and to !
🏛️June 2nd: Join us for a rally in Sacramento to bring our campaign demands to legislators and elected officials

On May 7th, preliminary findings from autopsies of five of the Negros 19 victims were released. Forensic pathologist Dr. Raquel Fortun’s account reveals the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) grossly mishandled the bodies of the Negros 19 and hampered proper investigation of the killings. Initial findings also corroborate community suspicions of violations of International Humanitarian Law by the AFP in these attacks.

SFCHRP is enraged and appalled by the obscene mishandling of the bodies of the Negros 19 and the blatant disrespect of victims and their families by the AFP. These reports make clear that the people cannot rely on the Philippine State to indict the murderous AFP for their violations of international humanitarian law. We stand with the families of the martyrs and their calls for an immediate, independent investigation of the massacre & an end to US military aid to PH security forces!

🚨‼️Calling all of NorCal: URGENT 3PM QRT condemning blatant international humanitarian law violations. Justice for the Negros 19‼️🚨

Late last night, we received autopsy reports about the bodies of the Negros 19, revealing clear evidence that many were already wounded when killed or shot from behind, countering the afp’s claims that all were part of an armed encounter. The afp committed war crimes against the Negros 19.

They also mishandled the bodies after death, even giving the WRONG body to Errol’s family.

Let’s confront the consulate & PH state for their war crimes & excessive use of force. We demand an independent investigation immediately and for all remains to be safely returned to family members. Hustisya para kay Lyle, Kai, Errol, RJ, Alyssa, Maureen & Negros 19‼️❤️‍🔥

On April 30, as hundreds of thousands marched in the Philippines to celebrate International Workers’ Day, we rallied at the Philippine Consulate of San Francisco to call on working people everywhere to unite with the Filipino working class in the global fight against US imperialism.

Hear Frankie, a rank-and-file member of Unite Here Local 2 and organizer with Malaya Movement SF, share about what he learned as a member of a labor solidarity delegation that visited the Philippines in November 2025. Hosted by Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), the national trade union center of the Philippines, the delegation included members of SEIU 1021, CWA local 9404, and human rights advocates.

The KMU is also a key component of a national coalition that opposes imperialist wars, US military occupation, and the national political leaders who are plundering the national budget. Filipino workers continue to rise, mobilize, and fight for their communities and the national liberation of their homeland.

From the urban poor communities organizing with KADAMAY in Parola and Tondo, to PISTON jeepney drivers across Manila and Cebu, to workers here in San Francisco we say: long live, international solidarity!

Mabuhay ang uring manggagawa!
Long live the working class!

❤️‍🔥Justice for Lyle, Kai and the Negros 19! ❤️‍🔥

SFCHRP condemns the 79th Infantry Battalion of Armed Forces of the Philippines for the indiscriminate strafing and bombing of the farming community of Barangay Salamanca, Toboso, Negros Occidental on April 19, 2026 as a clear violation of International Humanitarian Law. These attacks displaced over 650 people from their homes and killed 19 people, including Bay Area activist and ICHRP-US Country Council member Lyle Prijoles.

Lyle Prijoles is a Filipino-American human rights activist from California who was a role model and beloved friend to many in our organization. His lifelong commitment to serving his community brought him to Negros to integrate with and learn the true conditions of the farmers, fisherfolk, and everyday people who live there.

Lyle spent the final years of his life sowing the seeds of the solidarity movement for the Philippines as part of ICHRP-US, showing Filipinos and solidarity allies what it means to be of service to the people and to fight for genuine democracy in the Philippines. SFCHRP will honor his legacy by expanding the movement the way he taught us — with humility, courage and conviction as we continue building a better future for us all, from San Francisco to the Philippines.

JUSTICE FOR LYLE PRIJOLES, KAI SOREM, AND THE NEGROS 19!
Thursday, April 30: 9am | 12pm | 4pm
Join us on Zoom: tinyurl.com/NORCALJ4N19

Join NorCal ICHRP and Malaya Movement on Thursday, April 30th for three one-hour phone barrage sessions! Sessions will start with an orientation and training for participants. No experience needed!

We are calling for our representatives to take action to demand justice for Lyle Prijoles and Kai Sorem, two Filipino-Americans, who were murdered alongside 17 others by the Armed Forces of the Philippines in the Toboso massacre in Negros Occidental. Hour-long sessions will start with a 10-minute orientation for all participants. If you can’t join the sessions, please still call your representatives and check out the Advocacy Toolkit: tinyurl.com/Negros19-Advocacy-Toolkit

On April 19-20, 2026, the US-Backed Armed Forces of the Philippines carried out a 12-hour military operation in Negros Occidental that killed 19 people – including human rights organizers, youth activists, journalists, children, and peasant advocates – and displaced 653 residents. This was an undeniable violation of human rights and international humanitarian law. We demand an independent investigation, access to and return of the victims’ remains to their families, an inquiry into US involvement in this massacre, transparency and accountability from the Philippine government and the AFP for the war crimes they committed.
