We’re thrilled to welcome Ruyu Yan as SFM’s new Head Coach!

Coach Yan is a former elite artistic swimmer from China and a 2002 National Champion. After moving to the U.S. and raising her family, she joined the New Canaan Aquianas (NCA) coaching staff in 2022, first as an Intermediate coach and then as Head Coach for the 12U program. Her athletes have delivered outstanding results, including first place in Team, Solo, and Figures at the 2025 East Zone Championships, as well as 6th in Team and 6th and 9th in Solo at the 2025 U.S. Junior Olympic Championships.

Coach Yan brings valuable experience on the administrative and operational side of running a club. She leads all aspects of training and team operations, including routine choreography, practice planning, music editing, competition preparation, parent communication, scheduling, and program management. She is especially passionate about helping young swimmers build strong technical foundations while growing confidence, discipline, and a lifelong love for artistic swimming.
