We have a rare 5X match!

Now through June 30, every gift to the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank will go five times as far, thanks to Dr. Uma Sinha’s upgraded match offer.

That means a $20 gift becomes $100, enough to provide food for 200 meals for neighbors across San Francisco and Marin.

As grocery prices rise and demand at partner pantries grows, your support helps make an immediate difference for families, seniors, workers, and neighbors facing hunger.

This 5X match won’t last. Make your gift by June 30 and multiply your impact today.

Juneteenth has been known by many names over the decades — Freedom Day, Emancipation Day, Jubilee Day, and more — each reflecting the enduring significance of liberation. The four-year-old national holiday commemorates June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas and announced that enslaved people were free — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation — marking a pivotal moment in the dismantling of slavery in the United States.

As we look ahead to America’s 250th anniversary, Juneteenth offers a moment to reflect on the nation’s ongoing work to more fully realize the promise of July 4th — that all people are created equal — and to reckon honestly with the history that shaped that promise. It is both a celebration of freedom and a reminder of our collective responsibility to advance it.

SF-Marin Food Bank will be closed on June 19, 2026, in observance of Juneteenth, often called our country’s Second Independence Day. If you’re looking for ways to celebrate, check out this list of activities in the counties we serve.

The African American Art and Culture Complex’s annual Black Family Reunion is a celebration of art, culture, and Black liberation in San Francisco. Live performances, film, music, workshops, arts and crafts, local vendors, history, food and fun will combine to bring community together to honor our ancestral past, celebrate the present, and look to the future.

Our theme this year – Rooted in Community – recognizes AAACC’s place in the Fillmore/Western Addition. As times change and challenges surface we remain committed to serving as a hub, a home, a space for us.

We are rooted here, committed to resourcing community, and rejoicing in our whole Black self.

From June 18-20 join us as we showcase how being rooted in community shows up in: Literacy/Education, Creative Expression, Self-Care, History and unapologetic JOY!

During the week of May 25, participants saved an average of $50.27 on groceries, with a bounty that included seasonal favorites like Rainier cherries.

We mean it when we say that more than 70% of the food we provide is fresh produce. This week’s abundance brings that number to life in full color.

“I’m retired and living on Social Security, and the food I get here makes a huge difference,” shared Kathleen, a Food Bank participant.

We’re proud to help neighbors stretch their household budgets while bringing home fresh, delicious food they are proud to share with their families.

Summer should be a time for kids to rest, play and grow, but for many families, it also means losing access to the free school meals they rely on.

Through June 30, your gift will be DOUBLED, up to $150,000, thanks to the generosity of Food Bank Board Member Dr. Uma Sinha.

In our recent participant survey, 29% of respondents said they ate less than they should because there wasn’t enough money for food. Your 2X-matched gift can help ensure children and families across San Francisco and Marin have the nourishing food they need all summer long.

Make twice the difference today.

Cleaner miles are now part of how we move food across San Francisco and Marin.

This week, the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank launched two new on-site Zero Emission Vehicle charging stations at our San Francisco warehouse. These stations will help power our growing electric delivery fleet as we transport fresh, healthy groceries to neighbors across San Francisco and Marin.

For us, environmental sustainability is directly connected to hunger relief. As fuel costs rise, every dollar we save on transportation and energy helps to further in our mission to end hunger.

Thank you to Mayor Daniel Lurie for joining us and supporting our efforts to build cleaner, more efficient food delivery systems for the communities we serve.

This launch builds on decades of environmental sustainability work, including Farm to Family, Fresh Rescue, solar investments at our warehouses, and now, more electric miles ahead. ⚡🚚

We’re partnering with The San Francisco Standard and Amazon.com for a community food drive at this free outdoor film screening. Bring canned goods, pasta, rice, or other nonperishable foods to donate and support neighbors facing food insecurity across San Francisco and Marin.

This is the first in a series of monthly Sundown Cinema food drives running through October, so there will be more opportunities to give all summer long.
