Check out this very cool Kron 4 piece about the Candlestick Mural Project featuring MMAP's Executive Director, Tefferi Mogus Brook. In collaboration with Imprint.City and Candlestick SF, MMAP hired Charleshon Goodman, Sr and 25 other young people from Bayview Hunters-Point to work with professional artists to complete 11 murals centered on themes like "The Future" "Entertainment" and "Openness" through MMAP's Teen Mural Program curriculum. These murals will be integrated into the new development at Candlestick Point and the Shipyard to give the community's current youth residents a voice that will ring - in living color - for years to come. Thank you to Tyra Fennell, FivePoint, Charleshon Sr and Jr, and all of our partner organizations and artists for making these murals come to life... and special thanks to Kron 4's Pam Moore for shedding light on a proud community coping with change.

Change is happening all over San Francisco but perhaps no section of the city is being more affected than the Bayview Hunters Point area.

Such an honor to be recognized by students engaged learning through Stanford University Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society. Big thank you to Professor Siebers for leading this very innovative class where undergraduate students get to experience grant making... and special thanks to Josie, Alexa, Janet, Eli, and Thea from the media team that chose to award this generous grant to support MMAP's work in East Palo Alto!

Each year, students in the undergraduate course “Theories and Practices of Civil Society, Philanthropy, and the Nonprofit Sector” (PoliSci 236) select a handful of organizations to receive grants ranging from $5,000 to $30,000. The exercise encourages students to think about charitable-giving decisions and to examine the role of nonprofits and philanthropic foundations and the metrics for evaluating their performance.

On June 12, students from this year’s class made grants totaling $120,000 to eight nonprofit organizations: Public Advocates,
Agua Para La Vida, Street Level Health Project, Mural Music & Arts Project, Colorlines, Living Goods, Farms to Grow & 826 Valencia.

Congratulations to this year’s grant recipients!!
