📣 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS | 2026 APIC BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Asian Pacific Islander Caucus (APIC) is pleased to announce that nominations for the 2026 APIC Board of Directors are now open!
We invite eligible APIC members who are interested in serving in a leadership capacity to consider nominating themselves or a colleague for one of the following positions:
🔹 President-Elect
🔹 Treasurer
🔹 Secretary
🔹 Caucus Director
🔹 Membership Director
Serving on the APIC Board is an opportunity to contribute to the Caucus’s leadership and initiatives, support public health for Asian American and Pacific Islander communities, and engage in advocacy and professional development.

🗳️ Voting Period: September 1–11, 2026

APIC Summer Webinar 2026
Substance use disorders among Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) communities remain underrecognized and undertreated. This webinar will examine how the model minority myth, acculturative stress, and aggregated surveillance data can obscure the needs of diverse AANHPI communities and limit effective prevention, treatment, and intervention strategies.

Join Dr. Warren Yamash*ta (MD, MPH) and Dr. Wayne Kepner (PhD, MPH) as they explore:
- Qualitative clinical findings on substance use disorder treatment experiences among AANHPI communities
- National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) 2015–2020 data, including findings on lifetime ecstasy/MDMA use
- Why disaggregated data and culturally responsive approaches are essential for equitable, targeted care

It’s time to celebrate the individuals and organizations advancing health equity in AANHPI communities! APIC is now accepting nominations for three awards, to be presented at the APHA Annual Meeting in San Antonio, TX.
🏆 APIC/APHA Best Published Paper
For the best public health paper on AANHPI health issues, published (or accepted) between Jan 1, 2025 – June 30, 2026.
🏆 Emerging Leader Award
For AANHPI changemakers under 30 showing exceptional leadership and commitment to health equity.
🏆 Community Leader Award
Honoring individuals or organizations with 5+ years of grassroots impact in AANHPI community health, advocacy, or service (open to those outside academic/public institutions).
📅 Nomination Period: July 1 – July 31, 2026
📅 Selection Period: Aug 1 – 15, 2026
📅 Winners Notified: Week of Aug 17, 2026
