LAST CHANCE to jump on the bus as we hit the road!

We are heading to the beautiful Napa Valley Country Club for a lovely lunch and a powerful and moving presentation with award-winning journalist and broadcaster Yvonne Judge, as she shares her acclaimed RTÉ Radio 1 documentary “Victim No. 0001.”

In the days following 9/11, an image emerged that would become one of the most iconic of that tragic day—a man being carried from the North Tower. He was Father Mychal Judge, chaplain to the New York Fire Department, and later recorded as the first official victim of 9/11.

Through this deeply personal and thoughtfully crafted documentary, Yvonne explores the life of a complex and compassionate man—an Irish-American Franciscan priest who ministered to the marginalized of New York City and was embraced by many communities in the wake of his death.

Yvonne will speak about the inspiration behind the documentary, her time researching and recording in New York, and the powerful story she uncovered along the way.

This promises to be an afternoon of reflection, storytelling, and conversation.

June 16, 2015, is a date forever etched in our hearts. Today marks the anniversary of the tragic balcony collapse in Berkeley that took the lives of young students and forever impacted thirteen young people, their families, and our entire community.

In those darkest first hours and days, the Irish Immigration Pastoral Center and the Irish Consulate stood together as the first response organizations on the ground.

But we did not carry that heavy weight alone—we turned to you, our community. Your kindness, prayers, and steadfast presence carried us through an unimaginable time, and we remain deeply grateful.

Our commitment to honoring those we lost remains as strong as ever. Wherever you are today, we invite you to pause and join us in a quiet moment of reflection.

We hold close the lives and beautiful memories of Aoife Beary, Ashley Donohoe, Eimear Walsh, Eoghan Culligan, Lorcán Miller, Nick Schuster, and Olivia Burke.

Thank you for walking this journey with us — then, now, and always. ☘️💚

💙 Men's Health Week: Small Steps Can Make a Big Difference

This week marks Men's Health Week, an important reminder that our health deserves the same attention and care that we so often give to others.

Many men are quick to support family, friends, and colleagues, yet often delay seeking help for their own health concerns. Whether it's booking a check-up, attending a screening, taking a daily walk, or having an honest conversation about how we're feeling, small actions can have a significant impact.

Research consistently shows that men are less likely to access healthcare services and preventative screenings. Yet early detection remains one of the most effective tools we have in tackling conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, prostate cancer, bowel cancer, and skin cancer.

Just as importantly, good health includes our mental and social wellbeing. Staying connected, talking openly, and supporting one another are signs of strength.

This short video from the Men's Health Forum Ireland highlights practical and achievable ways men can take positive steps towards better health:

This Men's Health Week, why not choose one small change that future you will thank you for?

FREE SUMMER MEALS RETURN FOR SAN FRANCISCO CHILDREN & YOUTH (2026)

The City and County of San Francisco - Government is pleased to announce the return of the Free Summer Meals Program for children and youth across the city this summer.

From June 15 to August 14, 2026, free, healthy breakfasts, lunches, and snacks will be available at locations throughout San Francisco for all children and youth ages 18 and under.

Meals will be served Monday through Friday during designated serving times. No registration, proof of need, or identification is required. Children and young people can simply visit an open meal site and receive a meal.

About the Program

The program is led by the San Francisco Department of Children, Youth & Their Families, which will sponsor 39 free meal sites across the city in 2026:

14 open sites available to all children and youth
25 sites serving children enrolled in summer programs

Now in its 29th year, the Free Summer Meals Program provides well over 100,000 meals each summer in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the California Department of Education, and community and City partners.

As DCYF Executive Director Sherrice Dorsey-Smith noted, the program helps ensure that children and young people continue to have access to nutritious food when school is not in session.
