We're proud to recognize and celebrate the outstanding students from our 2026 Summer Internship Program! β˜€οΈπŸŽ“

At their Capstone Project presentations, interns shared their goals, accomplishments, lessons learned, and the impact of their work throughout the summer. Staff, supervisors, and family members joined us in celebrating their achievements as each intern received a Certificate of Completion.

Congratulations to this talented group, and thank you for the dedication, passion, and fresh perspectives you brought to the Red Cross mission. ❀️

As part of the newly expanded Northern California Coastal Region, Regional Leadership Team members traveled through the Central Valley and Kern Chapters to meet the volunteers, donors, media partners and community partners who are helping advance the Red Cross mission every day.

Thank you all for the warm welcome, meaningful conversations, and shared commitment to serving communities across our region. We are excited to continue building connections and working together to make an even greater impact!

More communities. Same mission.

Innovation starts with curiosity and grows through collaboration.

Through the Deloitte Believers program β€” a workforce development initiative that equips students with industry-relevant STEM skills, hands-on training, and meaningful career exposure β€” volunteers from HP Solutions collaborated with the American Red Cross Northern California Coastal Region and Deloitte for a hands-on STEM experience that combined technology, creativity, and purpose.

The event supported HP Solutions Youth Impact Month-an initiative focused on empowering young people with the skills they need to thrive in the future of work.

Deloitte and HP volunteers served as team advisors as students built rovers and took part in a design challenge focused on clean water and sanitation. Along the way, they worked together to identify challenges and brainstorm solutions, showcasing the power of innovation and teamwork.

Proud to see students strengthen their STEM skills while exploring how technology can help solve meaningful challenges in their communities and beyond.

Thank you to HP and Deloitte for helping inspire future leaders and innovators.

The Timber Fire began 8 Aug on the coast of Big Sur, Calif. Its slow-to-moderate growth moved toward Big Sur and surrounding communities. Evacuation warnings were issued on 9 Aug.

As fire activity increased, this was changed to an evacuation order early on 10 Aug, and a Temporary
Evacuation Point was opened at Big Sur Station on Hwy 1, where the Red Cross supplied comfort kits,
water, and snacks. Later that day, a shelter was opened by Monterey County at a local Middle School,
with the Red Cross as a supporting partner, providing supplies and some staffing.

As of this week, evacuation orders are turning to warnings and clients are starting to return home. "Winning, in the game of disaster response, is being put out of our job," jested Volunteer Information & Planning Coordinator Dave Crocker.

However, many of our volunteers are still on the job. Our priority remains supporting Monterey County and the Timber Fire shelter response, while maintaining readiness to respond wherever our communities need us next. We continue to monitor incident activity, stay closely connected with partners and leadership, and ensure our teams and resources remain ready for additional activations.

We wouldn't be able to accomplish our mission without our amazing volunteers!
