On this , we give a standing ovation to for stepping up once again as a major sponsor of our Sound the Alarm signature period. With their bedrock support, volunteers helped install more than ONE THOUSAND smoke alarms throughout our region, making more than 1,500 residents safer. We’re incredibly grateful not just for the support, but for the consistency, trust, and relationship that has grown over decades.

When disasters happen across our Northern California Coastal Region, PG&E is right there with us — helping share critical information about shelters, planned utility shutoffs, safety concerns, and logistics that directly impact communities during emergencies.

Over the years, PG&E employees have supported 39 Red Cross blood drives, participated in more than 130 First Aid and CPR training sessions, and helped provide more than $21.5 million in disaster preparedness and relief support. But the numbers only tell part of the story. What stands out most is that PG&E continues to show up, year after year, for communities and for the people we serve together.

To everyone at PG&E: THANK YOU for believing in this mission and for continuing to stand beside the Red Cross.

"A beautiful day on the beach on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii, turned into a frightening experience for Sarah Acosta, her mother and her sister. Thankfully, lifeguard training provided by the American Red Cross gave Sarah the confidence she needed to save her mother’s life."

Meet Lisa Platz, our Service to the Armed Forces & International Services (SAF/IS) Volunteer Spotlight of the Month!

"I’ve been with the Red Cross since May 2025. I volunteered for a BBQ at the San Francisco Hoptel in June and I've been there ever since. I am the lead at the SF VA Hoptel. I set up the hospitality events twice a month for our veterans who have to stay over because of procedures or appointments and live over 50 miles away. I joined SAF/IS because I grew up with military kids. I lived in Alaska and went to school between an Air Force Base and an Army Base. The majority of students in my schools were of course military. I've always respected military personnel and I believe veterans are overlooked in our country. That is my motivation and why I like being a part of SAF/IS. New volunteers should bring their empathy and compassion to our Hoptel and a general great attitude. Spending time talking and listening to our veterans is the best part of being at the VA. Outside of Red Cross, I love walking or riding the Muni through San Francisco. I spend a lot of time with different people throughout the city, talking and getting to know their lives. Sometimes people just need to chat. I also go to the beach when I can. There's nothing like putting my toes in the sand!"

We're only TWO WEEKS away this year's SF Pride Parade! 🌈

This month, celebrate love, inclusion, and community with us at the annual San Francisco Pride Parade! The American Red Cross is proud to march in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ community—and we invite you to be part of it. The morning will feature pre-parade activities as we wait for our turn to walk—including music, face painting, group photos, and float decorating—followed by the parade march in the afternoon where we will hand out friendship bracelets, stickers, and other Red Cross goodies!

Light breakfast, lunch, and Red Cross swag, including shirts and pins, will be provided; however, feel free to show your Pride with your own safe-for-work, colorful gear if you've got any!

Red Crossers can register through Volunteer Connection, link in the comments!

Last week, we got to "Honor our All Stars" at our Annual North Bay Chapter Awards and Recognition Ceremony, an important tribute to the tremendous support that volunteers and employees have given to one another to ensure effective service delivery throughout Marin, Napa, Solano and Sonoma Counties.

Thank you to all our volunteers who make a difference every day and to everyone who made this event possible! Check out the rest of the evening at our Flickr page, link in the comments.
