B4B collects and donates tens of thousands of books by offering complimentary skin and aesthetic treatments with medical and aesthetic professionals in exchange for books and donations. Maas, Beauty for Books™ (formerly Books for Botox), a non-profit organization, generates books and reading materials, as well as donations for the purchase of books for financially challenged schools and children t
hat are in need of reading materials at home. The program is run annually with book and donation collections during the Holiday season from December 1st - December 31st at which time family, friends, patients and donors are asked to donate new or nearly new books that are appropriate for grades K-8th children or a minimum of $100. In exchange, donors receive a skin care consultation and a credit amount for a complimentary service or treatment. Some of the beauty treatments include Botox, Dysport or Xeomin treatments for fine lines as well as fillers like Restylane and Voluma, skin and laser treatments such as IPL, Coolsculpting, Ultherapy and VelaShape offered, by the respective B4B provider clinic or facility. These treatments are generously supported by product and grant donations from Allergan, Medicis and Lumenis as well as numerous top San Francisco salons, spas and boutiques that serve as vendors at the B4B Annual Gala. The Annual Beauty for Books™ gala provides a forum for the local school districts (Marin City, San Francisco and Oakland Unified) to explain their needs, for friends, beauty experts and businesses to get together and for generous donors to "fund the need" expressed by the schools.
