"Tonight is more than scholarships. It's about possibility, it's about growth, it's about a new chapter."
On May 7, we gathered at the Southeast Community Center to celebrate our 2026 San Francisco Achievers Awards Ceremony and welcome 25 new Scholars into the next chapter of their journey. The room was full of family, mentors, partners, and friends, the people who have shaped these young men and the years still to come.
Miles opened the evening with a tribute to our founder, Dr. Henry Safrit, the man whose vision started everything and continues to change lives. Adonal Foyle, former Golden State Warriors center, delivered a keynote that reminded our Scholars to dream bold, stay curious, and ask questions. The offices of Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and Assemblymember Catherine Stefani sent special certificates honoring our Scholars.
As one of our Scholars shared that night, this moment represents an investment in his future and a reminder that others believe in his potential.
This year's class joins a community that has now invested more than $6 million in the futures of African American young men in San Francisco. Our Scholars continue to graduate high school and matriculate to college at 100 percent.
Thank you to Fairview Capital, AAALI, and the Golden State Warriors Foundation for sponsoring this celebration, and to every donor and mentor who shows up for these young men year after year.
To our 2026 Scholars: the next chapter is yours. Keep writing.
