ท่อนหนึ่งจากบทเพลง ‘คิดถึงบ้าน’ (เดือนเพ็ญ) ของ ‘นายผี’ อัศนี พลจันทร์ อดีตผู้ต้องลี้ภัยทางการเมือง ไม่เพียงสะท้อนความถวิลหาบ้านเกิด แต่ยังแฝงด้วยความหวังถึง ‘กองไฟ’ แห่งการเปลี่ยนแปลงที่จะช่วยปัดเป่าความทุกข์ทนของผู้คน
ผ่านเวลาหลายปี คนรุ่นใหม่จำนวนไม่น้อยต้องก้าวออกนอกประเทศ เช่นเดียวกับ ‘ลูกไม้ - ญาณิศา วรารักษพงศ์’ อดีตนักเรียนนักกิจกรรมผู้ต้องเลือกลี้ภัยทางการเมืองไปยังสหรัฐอเมริกา
แต่การอยู่ห่างไกลแสนไกล ไม่ได้แปลว่าบทบาทการเคลื่อนไหวของเธอจบลง
จากความเสียใจที่ไม่ได้ทำงานภาคประชาสังคมในไทยตามฝัน ลูกไม้เปลี่ยนมันเป็น ‘สัญญาใจ’ ที่จะไม่ทิ้งเพื่อน และเริ่มภารกิจร่วมก่อตั้ง ‘Engage Thailand’ องค์กรไม่แสวงหากำไรที่ทำหน้าที่เป็นสะพานเชื่อมระหว่างคนไทยในต่างแดน องค์กรนานาชาติ และขบวนการเคลื่อนไหวในประเทศไทย
“เมื่อเราสามารถเอาตัวเองมาอยู่ในจุดที่ปลอดภัยระดับหนึ่ง หากเทียบกับคนที่ต้องอยู่ในคุก เรารู้สึกว่าต้องมีส่วนรับผิดชอบทำให้สถานการณ์ในไทยดีขึ้นไม่ทางใดก็ทางหนึ่ง”
คอลัมน์ใหม่ 'with/in the movement ผู้คน หนทาง การเคลื่อนไหว' โดย Daybreaker Network ชวนสัมผัสชีวิต การเรียนรู้ และการโหม ‘กองไฟ’ ส่งผ่านไออุ่นจากต่างแดนของ ลูกไม้-ญาณิศา วรารักษพงศ์ จิ๊กซอว์อีกชิ้นที่ยืนยันว่า แม้ต้องไกลบ้าน แต่สายลมแห่งความหวังและการต่อสู้เพื่อประชาธิปไตยไทยไม่เคยหยุดพัด

On July 20, 2026, conscientious objector Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal was sentenced to six months in prison for military draft evasion. For many in Thailand, ending compulsory conscription is not only about protecting the rights and well-being of young, often low-income conscripts; it is also about challenging structures that have long helped sustain the military's political influence.

On July 15, 29-year-old Atiruj revoked his appeal and walked into the Bangkok Remand Prison, where he is serving a sentence of 1 year and 8 months. Similar to at least 54 other political prisoners in Thailand, he is being punished simply for speaking out.
