Meet our materials!

Our students are learning to 'read' wood grain like a story - understanding how the tree grew and how that affects strength; deducing how it was sawn from that tree into lumber; and deciding how to utilize each piece in a way that takes advantage of its strengths and minimizes its weaknesses.

Every piece of lumber has character, and our boat builders are learning to work with that character to create something stronger than its individual parts.

Fall program has room for 2-3 more students - message us this week to join!

What's your favorite natural material to work with? Wood? Clay? Stone? Share below!

We are taking a short break from Community Rowing - we'll see you in October!

Teamwork makes the dream work! Students from our program keeping the game going as long as they can.

But what does this have to do with boatbuilding? More than you think!

Nobody needs a wooden boat anymore - wood working is very much about the process, about getting better each time, about being functional and graceful. "Infitinte Games" like the one our students are playing here demonstrate that its not about what level you can get to, how many HP your player has, or what the prize is. The reward is seeing what we can do with our own hands after a little practice.

What are your favorite "infitine games?!"

Summer is for ROWING!

We have been hitting the water as much as we can this summer. Something about being out there, away from the hustle and bustle of the city... there is nothing like it!

We got a visit from today for some pro-level tips to up our on-water game. We are aiming to join them for Wooden Boat Classic in August on the city front. Let the training begin!
