The cover of our newly released annual report features Cecilia González Herrera, a named plaintiff in our case National Temporary Protected Status Alliance v. Noem. Cecilia courageously stands on behalf of hundreds of thousands of TPS-holders whose legal immigration status the government has tried to nullify overnight — without cause, contrary to statute, and motivated by racism.

ICE deportations in California have increased by 78% since President Trump took office, and families are paying the price. At a time when 27% of California households are struggling to meet basic needs, mass deportation is projected to cost the average family $2,150 more per year by 2028.

Tell your representative to vote against any bill that would inflate ICE and Border Patrol's already massive budgets without reining in the violence and abuse. Take action at https://action.aclu.org/send-message/no-more-funding-ice

The California Supreme Court unanimously decided that our claims that the state's death penalty is racially discriminatory deserve further consideration in the Sacramento Superior Court — and ordered Attorney General Bonta to explain why the death penalty should not be declared unconstitutional.

The stakes couldn't be higher for the 560+ people languishing on death row. We’re ready to continue this fight to end California’s death penalty once and for all.

A system infected by racial discrimination cannot deliver justice.

The order recognizes the compelling evidence establishing that California’s death penalty is administered in a racially discriminatory manner.

The Trump administration has taken the first step toward turning a former women’s prison in Alameda County over to ICE for immigration detention. FCI Dublin is uninhabitable and tainted by a legacy of horrific sexual abuse. It should be demolished, not repurposed to lock up our family, friends, and neighbors. You can voice your opposition to this project at https://actionnetwork.org/letters/fci-dublin-environmental-assessment/.

ICE also quietly leased 24 acres near Gilroy in unincorporated Santa Clara County to build a detention facility. Workers are already clearing the property to make way for construction.

Adding detention beds in Northern California will lead to more ICE arrests, human rights abuses, deportations, and deaths.

Say No to ICE in the Bay Area.

We have until June 1 to tell the federal Board of Prisons to demolish FCI Dublin, the notorious former women’s prison in Alameda County, and prevent it from becoming an ICE detention facility.

Increasing detention capacity fuels ICE arrests and inevitably leads to abuse and death. Act now👇🏾

Stop ICE from opening an immigration detention facility in a former federal prison in Alameda County.
