In just over two weeks, our incredible team of volunteers will be heading back to Ecuador for another Alliance for Smiles mission!

This will be our second mission to Ecuador this year, but this time, we’re bringing our team to Guayaquil. Preparations are underway, and we’re looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new families, and providing free cleft lip and palate care to children who need it.

A big thank you to the The Rotary Club of Columbia County, Georgia (District 6910), for organizing its annual Golf Fore A Child tournament and raising funds to support Alliance for Smiles!

With nearly 150 golfers taking part and a fundraising goal of $35,000, the tournament supports four organizations, including AfS, helping advance their work in the community.

Held every year since 2017, Golf Fore A Child was started by the club’s past president, Petra Bailey, whose uncle, John Uth, co-founded Alliance for Smiles. Petra launched the tournament to support our cleft care missions and carry forward her uncle’s legacy.

We’re deeply grateful to the Rotary Club of Columbia County and everyone who helped organize the event, and every golfer and donor who made it possible. Your generosity helps us continue providing free cleft lip and palate treatment to children who need it.

Every child deserves access to the care they need, regardless of their family's financial circumstances. ❤️

Alliance for Smiles was founded on this belief: that every child deserves quality cleft care, completely free of charge. Over the years, we've helped thousands of children from underserved communities around the world access life-changing treatment that might otherwise have been out of reach.

On the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, we stand with people experiencing poverty, recognize the barriers they face, and reaffirm that access to essential healthcare should never depend on a family's ability to pay.

Because poverty is not just about income, it's also about access, opportunity, dignity and the right to live a healthy life.

On World Anaesthesia Day, we’re shining a light on our volunteer anaesthesiologists, whose expertise and dedication make Alliance for Smiles’ medical missions possible.

From preparing our young patients for surgery to carefully monitoring their vital signs throughout the procedure and supporting their recovery afterward, anaesthesiologists play a vital role in keeping children safe and comfortable at every stage of their surgical journey.

During our 2024 mission to Hue, Vietnam, volunteer anaesthesiologists Christian Seefelder, Mackenzie McGrath and Avani Richardson worked alongside surgeons and nurses, sharing expertise and collaborating to ensure our patients received the best possible care.

To our volunteer anaesthesiologists, and to anaesthesia professionals everywhere, thank you for the skill, care and commitment you bring to every patient. Our missions simply wouldn’t be possible without you!

In October 2004, six Rotarians came together with a simple but powerful vision: to provide free cleft lip and palate surgery to children around the world.

Twenty-two years later, Alliance for Smiles has completed more than 100 medical missions, transforming the smiles and lives of nearly 8,000 patients.

But what did those early years look like? What challenges has AfS overcome along the way, and what does the future hold?

It takes courage to place your child in the hands of a medical team you’ve never met.

But when it means giving your little one a chance at a healthier future, a mother will do just about anything. ❤️

For Vivian, that meant putting her trust in the Alliance for Smiles team during our 2025 mission to Accra, Ghana, so her baby, Kayla, could receive free cleft lip surgery.

When Kayla woke up after surgery, she was back in her mother’s arms, with a beautiful new smile. For Vivian, it was a moment filled with relief, gratitude and hope.

Alliance for Smiles recently returned from our very first cleft mission to India, where our incredible team of medical and non-medical volunteers joined forces with healthcare professionals at S.V.S. Marwari Hospital in Kolkata to provide free, life-changing cleft care to children.

From surgery and hands-on training to the many people working behind the scenes, this mission was made possible by a community united by a shared commitment to helping children smile with confidence.

A heartfelt thank-you to the Rotary clubs and districts around the world whose generosity helped bring this mission to life. ❤️

Alliance for Smiles turns 22 this year, and we’re taking a moment to celebrate 22 years of providing free cleft care, changing smiles and transforming lives around the world. 🌎❤️

None of this would be possible without the incredible people who have been part of the journey.

To the hundreds of volunteers who have generously shared their time, skills and expertise on our medical missions: thank you.

To our donors and supporters who have funded missions and helped make free cleft surgery and care possible for children and families who need it most: thank you.

And to our co-founders and board members, thank you for your leadership, dedication and for always helping light the way forward.
