🐱 The Science Behind Cat Color, Personality & Intelligence 🔬

We’re excited to share something special from an event Philly Jenkins Rescue was honored to be a part of! Two of our rescue cats were featured as part of a presentation exploring the fascinating science behind cat color, personality traits, and intelligence. 🐾🧠

The presentation features Karol Maybury, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology at the University of Maine at Farmington and co-founder of the Maine Cat Lab, discussing research conducted with co-researcher Bryce Cundick, MLS. Their work examines thousands of cats and explores questions many cat lovers have wondered about: Does a cat’s color have any relationship to personality? Are some cats more outgoing or agreeable? What can research tell us about feline intelligence?

For us, participating in events like this is about more than celebrating cats. At Philly Jenkins Rescue, we believe research and education can help us better understand the animals in our care and that better understanding can ultimately contribute to better rescue practices, stronger human-animal relationships, and better outcomes for cats. ❤️

We’re especially proud that two Philly Jenkins Rescue cats were featured in this presentation! Seeing rescue cats represented in conversations about feline behavior and cognition makes this one particularly meaningful to us.

🎥 The full presentation is now available on YouTube! We encourage our fellow cat lovers, adopters, rescuers, and anyone curious about feline behavior to watch and learn along with us.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this research and educational event possible and, of course, to the cats who continue teaching us something new every day. 🐱🔬💕
