Stop Crime SF

Stop Crime SF San Franciscans working to create a safe and sound city for all. We are committed to preventing crime in San Francisco neighborhoods and giving victims a voice.

We believe safety and justice go together. We want public officials to keep everyone safe as they pursue needed police and prison reforms. We want to ensure dangerous and career criminals don’t reoffend — and support ways to keep people from resorting to crime in the first place. Our work includes:
— Monitoring court proceedings to ensure prosecutors and judges prioritize public safety.
— Advocati

ng for victims, including the many Asian American victims of violent crime.
— Convening panels that seek solutions to conditions that foster crime.
— Publishing fact-based news articles and leading public education campaigns.
— Supporting police and prison reforms that increase safety for all.
— Asking the entire criminal justice system and all public officials to do their jobs at the highest standard. Learn more at www.stopcrimesf.com

Courts are essential in the criminal‑justice system because they are the branch that actually decides whether the law is being followed, protects people’s rights, and holds police and attorneys accountable. Only judges decide if evidence is legally obtained, if trials are fair, what sentences ...

You are invited to a landmark debate this Wednesday, April 1, featuring the leading candidates running to succeed Nancy Pelosi and represent San Francisco's Congressional District 11. The time is changed to 6:30 PM to allow for more of your questions and make an accommodation for Passover.

This free public forum, held at the 9th Avenue entrance to Golden Gate Park at the Hall of Flowers, will be the first debate on the Westside of the city ahead of the election, now just two months away. The event is hosted by SHARP, and co-sponsored by Stop Crime SF.

For 38 years, this seat has been held by Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi. The outcome of this race will determine who speaks for San Francisco in Congress for years, shaping our community’s voice on foreign policy, housing, climate, public safety, and the future of American democracy.

Leading candidates include State Senator Scott Wiener, Supervisor Connie Chan, community advocacy leader Marie Hurabiell, and former Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez staffer Saikat Chakrabarti.

This is a uniquely consequential election. There is no incumbent, and the decisions voters make now could define our representation for a generation. Ballots will be mailed in just a few weeks.

Please join us. Click here to register now for this public forum by cutting and pasting this registration URL into your browser: https://forms.gle/zn534z9scbLP9KFj9

Seating is limited and advance registration is recommended.

SHARP is sponsoring, with Stop Crime Sf and other community organizations, the first Westside Congressional candidate debate of the year on April 1 at the County Fair Building. Judges are a critical link in public safety, yet San Franciscans are given almost no information about how they actually rule from the bench.

That’s why Stop Crime Action is releasing a new Judge Report Card evaluating San Francisco Superior Court judges based on real courtroom outcomes, public records, and attorney feedback.

Repeat offenders.
Pretrial releases.
Drug and violent crime cases.
Accountability gaps.

With 58% of felony drug defendants previously released and failing to appear, and hundreds of overdose deaths each year, transparency in our courts is extremely urgent.

An independent judiciary matters.
So does public accountability.

Voters deserve facts, not silence.

Learn more, get involved, and help bring transparency to San Francisco’s courts.

This verdict is a failure of justice. An 84-year-old man was violently killed in an unprovoked attack that helped spark the Stop Asian Hate movement, and today the system says it wasn’t murder. Our elders deserve protection. Our communities deserve accountability. We will not accept a justice system that minimizes violence against Asian Americans.

Thea Brenda Hopkins, tied to two violent attacks on elderly Asian women that left a 63-year-old dead, is out on bail. Despite missed court appearances and repeated delays, Judge Michael Begert allowed her release, and she now walks free in our community while victims’ families wait for justice.

This isn’t accountability. This is a system that continues to gamble with our safety, particularly that of our seniors and Asian residents.

We must demand a justice system that prioritizes victims, protects vulnerable communities, and takes violent crime seriously.
