Wishing a Happy Birthday to His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama as he turns 91 today.

His Holiness has been and continues to be an inspiration and guide in all of TFI's efforts to create a better world through compassionate action. We wish for his long life and good health so he may continue to spread his message of kindness.

The RoNa Foundation in Kenya is a grassroots human rights organization that helps vulnerable widows fight eviction, access justice, and secure sustainable livelihoods. Their advocacy is challenging patriarchal laws in Kenya while changing lives for individual women through educational resources and community support.

Angels Care School located inside a Refugee Settlement in Uganda educates over 1300 students, most coming from the bordering country of the DRC. They also care for the surrounding community of refugee families through their medical clinic. With ongoing conflicts around the world, the plight of refugees is a critical global issue and responding with compassion is something every nation can do to some degree.

Kids Around the World (KATW) believes play is essential for multiple aspects of a child’s development. When a playground is introduced into a community, a child gains emotional benefits of joy, social opportunities with other children, and physical improvements in their overall health. TFI was honored to receive playground equipment donated by KATW for kids at a school in Uganda. KATW donates playgrounds around the world. ❤️

TFI joined MedLend, a nonprofit that organizes medical missions around the world, for a trip to a teaching hospital in Mbarara, Uganda, in 2019. The team performed surgeries with the local staff to train surgeons to repair obstetric fistulas that can occur during childbirth.

The climate crisis disproportionately affects the poorest communities around the world while the lowest-income countries contribute the least to global emissions. Protecting the earth is a form of poverty alleviation.

Small village clinics like the Daystar Medical Clinic in Namalemba, Eastern Uganda are sometimes the only healthcare facilities available. They can provide lifesaving care or reassurance for common illnesses. World Health Day honors these simple clinics, large city hospitals as well as world class research labs.
