Coming This Summer...

The first-ever Olgapuri Trek-a-Thon!

On September 26, 2026, NYF supporters from across the country and around the world will lace up their shoes and hit the trails in their own communities—all on the same day, all in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Olgapuri Children's Village.

🌎 San Francisco. Denver. Seattle. Chicago. Des Moines. Miami. New York. London. Kathmandu. And hopefully many more!

And because every great celebration is even better when it makes a difference, we're turning this into a fundraiser for Olgapuri. Just like a walkathon, participants will rally their friends, family, colleagues, and neighbors to sponsor their trek.

Whether you walk around your neighborhood, hike a favorite trail, or gather a team in your city, you'll be part of a global community coming together for the children of Olgapuri and the future of Nepal.

📅 Save the date: September 26, 2026

🌱 In honor of World Environment Day (June 5), we're proud to spotlight NYF alumna Shanti Raut.

Growing up, Shanti knew how difficult it could be for families to afford education. With support from NYF's Scholarship Program, she was able to continue her studies from 9th grade through the completion of her bachelor's degree in agriculture, becoming the first person in her family to earn a college degree.

Today, Shanti works as an Agricultural Officer, partnering with farmers to improve productivity, promote sustainable farming practices, and strengthen food security in rural communities across Nepal. Through technical training, agricultural programs, and hands-on support, she helps farming families build more resilient livelihoods and increase their incomes.

Having grown up in a farming community herself, Shanti understands the challenges rural families face and is passionate about creating opportunities for future generations. She envisions a Nepal where every child has access to quality education and where agriculture is modernized, respected, and recognized as a vital profession.

From scholarship recipient to agricultural leader, Shanti is helping cultivate a greener, stronger future for Nepal. 🌾💚

The numbers are in! 🎉 Thanks to Back-to-School Bridging Classes offered through Community Learning Centers in NYF's Caste Equality Project communities, 49 girls who had previously dropped out of school were able to return to the classroom during the 2026 school year.

These bridging courses are designed for children whose education has been interrupted due to challenging circumstances. Through personalized support, accelerated learning, and encouragement from dedicated educators, students gain the skills and confidence they need to rejoin their peers in the grade level where they belong.

The impact extends even further: 2,500 students are currently enrolled in school across CEP communities, including 400 new enrollments this year alone. 📚✨ Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, thrive, and build a brighter future. 💙

We are thrilled to announce that Pradip BK has officially become an Advocate, becoming the first graduate of the Educating Dalit Lawyers (EDL) Program jointly implemented by Dignity Initiative and Nepal Youth Foundation.

He is the first among the 31 Dalit youth supported through this program to successfully complete the five-year BA LLB degree and qualify as a legal professional. The program provides a full scholarship that covers tuition fees, accommodation, a monthly stipend, and other related educational expenses, enabling students to pursue legal education without financial barriers.

For generations, Dalit communities have remained excluded from many of the spaces where laws are interpreted, rights are defended, and justice is delivered. Changing that reality requires more than policy. It requires creating pathways for talented young people to enter those spaces and lead.

Pradip's achievement represents years of commitment, hard work, and determination. It also reflects what becomes possible when barriers to education and opportunity are challenged.

We congratulate Advocate Pradip BK on this achievement and wish him strength and success in the journey ahead.

May he be the first of many.

Sometimes healing begins with something simple: a smile, a game, or feeling safe enough to be yourself. 💛 That’s the heart behind NYF’s Psychological Care Camps led by the team at Ankur Counseling Center.

A new group of young educators are preparing to begin teaching in classrooms across Saptari District. 📚

This month, 16 newly selected schoolteachers and 3 Community Learning Center (CLC) lead facilitators completed a three-day training on Basic Pedagogy & Classroom Management led by the Kathmandu University School of Education (KUSOED) team in Tirhut Rural Municipality.

The training focused on learner-centered teaching, classroom management, student engagement, and interactive teaching approaches as participants prepare to begin supporting students across 13 CEP-supported schools.

This pilot initiative is especially meaningful because many of the participants are recent NYF-supported graduates who are now giving back to their own communities through education. The teachers receive a monthly stipend to support living expenses, and at the end of their commitment, may become eligible for a scholarship toward a master’s degree at a public university in Nepal.

With 9 young women and 7 young men in this cohort, we’re excited to see their impact in schools across Saptari in the months ahead. 🎉✨

What does “Bright Futures at Home” really mean at NYF? It means empowering young adults through vocational training so they can build meaningful futures in Nepal. It means supporting caregivers with nutrition education and healthy practices that strengthen families at home. And it means providing stability, love, and a permanent home for children at Olgapuri Children’s Village.

This special film premiered on May 14, 2026, at the Nepal Youth Foundation’s annual Founder’s Day celebration, where the NYF Community gathered to reflect on our shared impact and continue building brighter futures at home for children and families across Nepal.

A heartfelt thank you to our volunteer filmmakers, Roy Cox and Robin Mortarotti, for creating such a beautiful piece of film and helping tell this story with such care and heart.

And thank you to Sanjoj Maharjan and Lakshmi Ghimire from our NYF Nepal team for capturing footage, leading the interview process, and dedicating so much time and commitment to bringing this story to life.

Bright Futures at Home. ✨ Founder’s Day 2026 was a beautiful celebration of community and connection.

We are so fortunate to have a remarkable group of supporters standing alongside NYF and the children and families we serve in Nepal. Thanks to your generosity, we are thrilled to have raised over $209,000 so far in support of NYF’s programs.

From the incredible silent auction items to the handcrafted woodworking pieces at the Olgapuri Market and the beautiful student artwork displayed throughout the evening, every detail reflected the talent, resilience, and bright futures being nurtured through NYF’s work.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in San Francisco to celebrate 35 years of impact and help make the future even brighter for the young people in Nepal. ❤️
