Universities should be places where ideas are challenged – not where students are made to feel they don't belong.
Yet too many Jewish students report encountering antisemitism in the classroom, leaving them feeling marginalized, reluctant to participate or questioning whether their voices are welcome.
Today, ADL is launching When Antisemitism Comes to Class – a new initiative to help colleges and universities recognize, prevent and respond to antisemitism in classroom settings while protecting academic freedom and fostering genuine intellectual inquiry.
Grounded in research, campus trends and documented classroom experiences, the initiative provides university leaders and faculty with practical guidance, new reporting mechanisms and educational resources to help ensure classrooms remain places of rigorous debate, equal opportunity and respect for every student.
Every university has a responsibility to ensure its classrooms are free from discrimination and that every student can learn, participate and thrive.
