Celebrating 50 years in 2025, the Irish Cultural Center fosters cultural awareness through education, arts, and social events, and we honor our legacy by chronicling the valued historical contributions of dedicated Irish in the San Francisco Bay Area. The United Irish Cultural Center (Irish Center) is a California nonprofit corporation organized to provide our members with beautiful dining and ban

quet facilities for social, recreational, athletic and cultural activities. Just three short blocks from the magnificent Golden Gate Recreational Area at Ocean Beach, the Irish Center celebrates over 40 years of service to the Irish and Irish-American community in San Francisco. We host many functions at the Saint Patrick Ballroom and the St. Nearby attractions include the San Francisco Zoo, Harding Park Public Golf Course, Lake Merced Recreational Facility, and Golden Gate Park. ☘️ A Historic First Step for the Sunset Irish Cultural District ☘️

This week, a group of Irish community leaders gathered with District 4 Supervisor Alan Wong and his staff for the inaugural meeting focused on the next phase of establishing San Francisco’s new Sunset Irish Cultural District.

The meeting marked the beginning of an exciting collaborative process to shape the district’s vision, boundaries, priorities, and long-term impact for generations to come.

On March 17, 2026, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors unanimously approved legislation creating the Sunset Irish Cultural District—recognizing the profound contributions of Irish and Irish American families who helped build and enrich the Sunset from its early days. The district will celebrate and preserve living Irish traditions, including music, dance, language, storytelling, sport, and community life, while creating new opportunities for cultural programming, education, and neighborhood partnerships.

Centered around the United Irish Cultural Center, the district represents an investment not only in preserving our shared heritage, but also in ensuring that Irish culture remains a vibrant and visible part of San Francisco’s future.

Thank you to Supervisor Alan Wong and his team for their partnership and leadership as we begin this important work. We look forward to engaging residents, community organizations, and local businesses as the vision for the Sunset Irish Cultural District continues to take shape.

Campers are in for a real treat next week as we welcome Sina Theil, an award-winning, Culture Ireland–supported artist, to lead song workshops at Irish Camp!

Described as “a captivating performer” by Irish Music Magazine, Sina is a German-born, Irish-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose journey is as powerful as her voice. After leaving a 9–5 finance career behind, she arrived in Dublin with one guitar, one backpack, and a dream—and went on to 26 Irish iTunes #1 singles, millions of views online, and tours across Ireland, the U.S., and beyond.
