YMCA of San Francisco

YMCA of San Francisco We strengthen the foundations of community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

Youth Development
We believe in nurturing the potential of every child and teen. The Y creates safe, structured environments for young people to become their best selves. Through high-quality programs grounded in youth development theory, we harness communities to invest in 8.86 million kids nation-wide. Healthy Living
We believe wellness comes from a balance in spirit, mind and body, and that wit

h connections and support, everyone, at every age, can make healthier choices. We’re committed to improving the nation’s health and well-being by empowering all people to lead fuller lives. 20.6 million receive support, guidance and the connection they need to get and stay healthy through the Y. Social Responsibility
We believe that when we work together, we move individuals, families and communities forward. Since 1884, the Y has responded to society’s most pressing needs by uniting people from all walks of life to work for social change. 58% of YMCA’s serve communities where household income is below the national average.

Small caps. Big dreams. 🎓💫

Last week, the little learners at Lutheran Church of Our Savior Preschool graduated and shared their dreams for the future. We celebrated future doctors, artists, and even a K-Pop Demon Hunter!

At the YMCA of Greater San Francisco, we believe strong futures begin with strong starts. We're honored to play a role in helping children build the confidence, curiosity, and sense of belonging that will carry them into whatever comes next. 💛

From sandy shores to thriving wetlands, nature creates space for connection.

This fall, youth from Bayview-Hunters Point and older adults from the Mission YMCA will come together through Waves of Wisdom: Intergenerational Coastal Stewards—a new program made possible by a $50,000 California Coastal Commission Whale Tail Grant.

Together they'll explore beaches, wetlands, and shoreline habitats while building leadership skills, fostering connection, and strengthening community across generations.

When young people are given the opportunity to explore new possibilities, brighter futures take flight✈️

During Aviation Day, families joined us for a hands-on aviation experience, meeting pilots and engineers, exploring aircraft, and learning about careers in the industry.

Thank you to Alaska Airlines s for partnering with the YMCA of Greater San Francisco to help connect young people with new opportunities, career pathways, and future possibilities.

Brighter futures are built Better Together✨

What a joyful day at Splash Bash! 💙🌊

This past weekend, we celebrated the newest graduates of Bayview Safety Swim and Splash, a program that helps young people build confidence, develop life-saving water safety skills, and strengthen community connections.

In partnership with the San Francisco Recreation & Park Department, older youth from Bayview Hunters Point receive swim training and workforce development opportunities before helping teach the next generation of swimmers.

Thank you to the families, supporters, and community members who joined us in celebrating these incredible young people and all they've accomplished.

Meet Ivy 🧡

As a Family Advocate at our OMI Family Resource Center, Ivy helps families navigate challenges and access the resources they need to thrive. She understands that language can be a barrier to support, and her fluency in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin helps create pathways to connection, understanding, and opportunity.

Ivy was selected for the Social Responsibility Award through the Asian Pacific Islander Leadership Network’s Staff Recognition Awards—an initiative led by one of our Employee Resource Groups that helps foster belonging across the YMCA of Greater San Francisco.

This recognition reflects the care, compassion, and dedication Ivy brings to the families she serves every day. Through her work, she helps strengthen community wellbeing and ensures more families feel seen, supported, and empowered.
