The Destination Healthy Skin Bus is coming to Buchanan YMCA on October 22, offering free skin cancer screenings in partnership with the The Skin Cancer Foundation.

A great day on the course, an even greater impact for our community. ⛳💛

Every neighborhood deserves a place to play. ⚽💛

We celebrated the opening of the Marin Y Mini Pitch at Loma Verde with 50+ young soccer players, a First Kick, plenty of smiles, and a few very enthusiastic goalies.

With no public park or recreation space nearby, this mini-pitch gives local kids a safe place to play, learn, and connect. It’s already becoming part of the daily rhythm of the community, with the Y’s after-school program bringing kids to the pitch every day.

“This is about supporting soccer access in communities that love the game, and that enthusiasm was clear at Loma Verde,” said Robert Davis, Vice President of Community Relations at the San Jose Earthquakes . The Earthquakes also donated 100 soccer balls through One Ball Can Change a Life, giving every child at the opening a ball to take home.

This is the Y showing up in the places that matter most to young people and families across Marin.

Made possible through the U.S. Soccer Foundation ’s Safe Places to Play program, funded by the MetLife Foundation and donated to the Novato Unified School District.

Every adventure starts with an opportunity. 🌲💛

Thanks to a Military Grant received by the Presidio Community YMCA, Christopher Erhart was able to experience Y Rangers this summer, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, who served in the military.

Through Y Rangers, Christopher explored the outdoors, learned about the Presidio, and discovered the stories held within this special place. One of those stories came from Ranger Benny Batom, a longtime National Park Service educator and Alcatraz storyteller who has spent more than 30 years bringing history to life.

For Christopher, this was more than a summer adventure. It was an opportunity made possible because of his family’s connection to military service, and a chance to create new memories of his own.

We’re grateful for the support that helps military-connected families experience the outdoors, build connections, and make memories together. 💛🌿

More room to run, dig, imagine, and discover. 💛🌿

Yesterday we celebrated the ribbon cutting of the Mission YMCA’s new preschool playground!

Mission Executive Director Maysha Bell called it an “outdoor classroom,” and we couldn’t agree more. This space gives our youngest learners room to build confidence, spark curiosity, connect with nature, and learn through play.

There’s so much to discover here: logwork crafted from trees reclaimed from the Presidio, climbing elements, pollinator and biodiversity plantings, fruit trees, sand, gravel, natural textures, and open-ended spaces that invite children to explore and create. The space even includes a dedicated garden for our Active Older Adults, creating opportunities for generations to connect.

This transformation was made possible through the Connecting Children with Nature program, led by the Low Income Investment Fund with funding from the San Francisco Department of Early Childhood and CAL FIRE, in collaboration with San Francisco Recreation and Park Department and San Francisco Children & Nature.

And a special thank you to Ingrid Mezquita, Executive Director of the San Francisco Department of Early Childhood, Maysha Bell, Anne Senores, Katia Alvarez, Chad Nico Hiu, Elizabeth Winograd, and Marissa Cowen for being part of this milestone.

Now comes the best part: watching our preschoolers make this space theirs. 🌱✨

What a night at the Chinatown YMCA’s Annual Crab Feed🦀

After a day of golf, friends, families, and community champions gathered around the table for a feast of fresh crab, good food, plenty of laughter, and a spirited raffle.

This year’s celebration was especially meaningful as we honored the memory of Louis E. Kwok, a founding member of the Alpha RAM Omegas whose legacy of service, leadership, and community continues to live on.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this 41st annual tradition one to remember. Your support helps create opportunities for youth, strengthen community, and advance health and well-being across San Francisco.

Here’s to another year of coming together!
