Great to see Dave Coulier recovering from treatment for HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer — a cancer at the base of the tongue often called “HPV throat cancer.”

Coulier recently shared that radiation treatment led to a 45-pound weight loss and months without being able to eat solid food. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2wKvZaoBXM

One important point that many reports are missing: HPV vaccination helps prevent six HPV-related cancers, including the type of cancer Coulier was treated for.

We wish Dave continued healing and hope his story helps raise awareness about HPV vaccination at ages 9–12 as a powerful cancer prevention tool. John Stamos

A new study finds that Kesem improves children’s well-being, sense of belonging, emotional expression, coping skills, and confidence. HPV awareness means knowing that:
The HPV vaccine helps prevent six types of HPV cancers including oropharyngeal (head and neck) cancer, cervical cancer, and a**l cancer.
• The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends the HPV vaccine for children 11-12, or as early as age nine.
• The HPV vaccine is safe and effective.
• The HPV vaccine is cancer prevention.
Often people think they could never get one of the HPV cancers, let alone that this cancer could happen to their child when he/she is an adult. Think again. HPV is the most common STI. The CDC says most people will be infected at some time in their lives. While HPV doesn’t always cause cancer, it could. In the US, there are an estimated 39K annual cancer cases that are attributable to HPV. Parents can protect their children before they are infected.

New from HPVANDME: One-Dose HPV Vaccine — What You Need to Know
U.S. health officials recently updated the HPV vaccine schedule to recommend just one dose — but not all medical organizations are on the same page. The American Academy of Pediatrics, AAFP, and ACOG still recommend 2–3 doses depending on age. The shift has sparked confusion among health professionals and parents. We cover:

In 2012, I founded HPVANDME after my husband was diagnosed with HPV throat cancer. More and more people are being diagnosed today. In fact, HPV throat cancer is now the #1 HPV cancer in the US, surpassing incidence of cervical cancer.
Every day, people are diagnosed without ever knowing this cancer exists, or that a simple vaccine protects against six types of HPV cancers. Education saves lives, and that’s exactly what we do. HPVANDME is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization.
Thank you.

If you’re a veteran or active-duty service member who’s been diagnosed with HPV-related throat cancer, your experience can make a difference. Email: [email protected]
Your story can raise awareness, inspire vaccination, and help protect others from preventable cancers.
According to studies, U.S. veterans and service members have a significantly higher risk of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and associated oropharyngeal cancers compared to the general public, primarily due to lower vaccination rates.
Thank you for your service.

Research shows U.S. veterans and service members are twice as likely to develop HPV infections that can lead to throat cancer. Learn how vaccination and awareness can help protect our heroes.
