Had no idea! Thank you for the info

It took vision, grit, and even some daredevil feats to develop the New Mexico ski culture we know today. Here are a few of the men and women who groomed the trail.

I am an attorney in Minneapolis, formerly a Hennepin county public defender. I have witnessed Minneapolis police brutality over and over and over again. Dozens of my clients were beaten up, choked out, and brutalized by Minneapolis police officers. This violence follows a pattern. It starts when the...

Friends of Palou Garden Planting Party!!

Come out to the garden Sunday December 6 at 9:30am!

I hope this message finds you in a warm place.

With the El Nino rains around the corner, it would be a great time to put some plants in the ground at the garden.

We were thinking the “back forty” at the east end of the garden could use some large, flowering shrubs. The planted area in the garden along Palou Avenue could also use some shrubs and smaller flowering plants.

If you have a shovel or a hand trowel please bring it as we’re short those tools. We’ll have the plants and some hot coffee.

If you like, please spread the word as many hands make light work!

Hope to see you there!

The Palou Avenue Streetscape Improvement Project extends the entire length of the street, from Barneveld Avenue to Crisp Road, in the city’s Bayview district. Palou Avenue serves as a local commercial district for the surrounding residential neighborhood. The 1.7-mile stretch of roadway flows through many communities in the Bayview, each with a distinct character. The corridor, largely residential, runs from an industrial corridor at the west end to the Hunters Point Shipyard to the east..The renovation will provide a safer and more inviting environment for pedestrians, motorists and transit riders.

This Sunday is Sunday Streets in Bayview, so if you want to come out to the garden, some of us will be there early - likely around 8:30AM - so that we can get out to enjoy the event on Third St. We'll be doing some general clean-up and some more planting (still lots of fescue that can go in).

This coming Sunday, March 15, 10:30 to 12:30, we are going to be holding a planting party at the garden. We've already weeded and mulched an area to be planted, but need lots of hands to help us get some native grasses in the ground. We'll have food, water, gloves, and some tools on-hand for volunteers, but if you have your own, please bring them.

Looking ahead to Earth Day, we'd like to do a BBQ to bring the neighborhood out on Sunday, April 19. If you can help with planning, distributing fliers to neighbors, or with translation of fliers into Chinese, please let me know.

As always, the Palou Community Garden will continue to be open on Sundays from 10:30 to 12:30 for general gardening and clean-up work.

Come and join your neighbors in further beautifying our little corner of the neighborhood. We've just made a new purchase of some native plants and now is the perfect time to put them in the ground. Sunday's activities will include: - weeding (out with the bad) - planting (in with the good) - planni…
