MNC Mission Bay Campus celebrated the ribbon cutting of its new outdoor learning environment with an open house, welcoming families, funders, partners, and community members to experience the space together. The celebration marked a milestone for the campus and reflected MNC’s commitment to creating engaging outdoor spaces where children learn, explore, and thrive. Families enjoyed campus tours with staff, and the new outdoor space.

Our sincere gratitude to the San Francisco Department of Early Childhood and Low Income Investment Fund (LIIF) for their support in helping fund and bring this project to life. We thank the Art.Garden.Design Team, San Francisco Recreation and Parks, Spiegel Aihara Workshop (SAW), and Dorman Associates for their collaboration. Their partnership brought to life a vibrant outdoor environment encouraging curiosity, creativity, movement, and nature connection for children and families served at MNC Mission Bay Campus.

We were honored by Senator Scott Wiener and Supervisor Matt Dorsey, Director of the Department of Early Childhood Ingrid Mezquita and LIIF ECE Deputy Director, San Francisco, Liz Winograd, highlighting the importance of investing in high-quality early learning spaces.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the MNC Mission Bay Campus team for the care, dedication, and passion they bring in creating outdoor learning experiences for children.

MNC’s Youth Services facilitated an intergenerational experience with the MNC HADS Program (Healthy Aging and Disability Services). Activities included collaborative games, storytelling, art projects, and wellness-focused discussions encouraging empathy, respect, and social connection. This experience allowed youth to strengthen communication and leadership skills while gaining a deeper appreciation for the experiences and wisdom of older adults.

We proudly participated in a successful community resource event connecting families and community members with a wide range of MNC services. Staff engaged families, answered questions, distributed materials, and helped community members understand how MNC programs can support their individual and family needs. Attendance and participation reflected strong interest and highlighting accessible, culturally responsive resources.

We reached an important milestone by becoming fully staffed, allowing the team to strengthen operations, increase youth support, and improve collaboration across sites and services. To celebrate, staff participated in a team bonding potluck gathering focused on building relationships, morale, and team unity. The event promoted communication, wellness, and a renewed sense of motivation as the team continues working together to provide high-quality programming services to the community.

The Genes and Generations workshop was an engaging, interactive program offered in Spanish running 12 weeks with 17 participants each week. Our program helped participants better understand how genetics, family history, environment, and lifestyle play a role in overall health. Through hands-on activities, participants explored DNA basics, built their family trees to reflect health patterns, and joined conversations about factors influencing brain health. The workshop provided information about privacy and participants’ rights in scientific research, making it educational and empowering for the community.

MNC Family Services Wolfsohn Campus hosted 18 moms for Mother’s Day, for new and longtime participants. The day celebrated mothers, expecting mothers, and honored mothers no longer with us.

MNC Family Support Specialists Elidia and Cindia, with Norma Carrera, facilitated a physical activity called “Mi Cuerpo, Mi Templo, My Body, My Temple.” This activity encouraged participants to stay active, care for their bodies, and remain grounded. As mothers, we often become so busy with daily routines that we forget to take time for exercise and self-care.

Afterwards, mothers gathered to enjoy a warm meal, sharing heartfelt stories about their first visits to MNC Family Services.

MNC Bayview Campus hosted a Mother’s Day breakfast celebration along with a candle-making activity led by our Social Emotional Specialist, Maria. Families enjoyed a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs, potatoes, chicken sausages, bagels, croissants, coffee, and juice. The event was an opportunity to relax, socialize, and unwind after a busy week. At MNC Bayview Campus, we showed our appreciation for our families, especially after the incredible generosity they showed during Teacher Appreciation Week by providing breakfast and lunch items for staff each day.

The candle-making activity offered parents a creative and calming outlet to de-stress and focus on self-care. Families had fun personalizing candles by choosing their own scents, colors, and decorations for the containers. One father shared that he always looks forward to our family activities and is already excited for the upcoming Father’s Day breakfast.

MNC Family Services in Bayview and Wolfsohn Campuses facilitated Abriendo Puertas, a 10-week parent program on school readiness, early literacy, health, leadership, and empowering parents to be their child’s “first teacher.”

At sessions end, we celebrated with a graduation for the 22 mothers, who received a certificate of completion. A wonderful event, with mothers inviting their children and immediate family members. We enjoyed playing the traditional Abriendo Puertas lottery game. Thank you to CEO, Richard Ybarra, for attending graduation to share encouraging words with the mothers.

During Week of the Young Child, our MNC Bayview infant class engaged in rich sensory and exploratory experiences that supported early development. They explored food textures, enjoyed music and movement, and investigated simple science through sensory play like experimenting with slime.

We observed their discoveries, engaging peers, and building skills across all areas. As teachers, we followed their interests and adjusted support for their learning ensuring each child felt engaged and supported. Their enthusiastic participation and joyful babbling reflected growing curiosity, communication, and social engagement—and plenty of smiles, giggles, and messy fun along the way!
