We at the Portola Planet hope you and your families remain well. We are sharing this news from the SF Rec and Park Department about emergency youth care, as schools close and parents still must work. Link below contains full details. Stay safe, everyone!
Beginning Monday, March 16, 36 recreation sites around the city will operate as emergency child care facilities in the wake of public school closures and other safety measures the City is undertaking around COVID-19.
The facilities will serve children of Department of Public Health staff; health care workers from San Francisco hospitals; city employees who have been activated as Disaster Service Workers; and low-income working families. Our facilities will serve grades K through 5, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., through March 31.
Similarly, the San Francisco Public Library will cease regular operations of its branches and provide child care for youth, grades 6-12. The Office of Early Childhood Education will be arranging child care services for pre-school children, ages 0-5. The Department of Children, Youth and Their Families (DCYF) will be providing three meals a day for all children at these facilities.
Detailed information on emergency youth care locations, eligibility and registration can be found at https://www.dcyf.org/.
