📣 CALLING OUR COMMUNITY - IT’S TIME TO GET ORGANIZED 📣

Since the horrific SFPD attack on our community at the end of this year’s Trans March, 95 organizations and over 1700 individuals have signed the community open letter demanding real solutions for community safety.

1. Drop All Charges against our community members who were arrested
2. Invest in Community Safety, not Police
3. Replace Police Presence with Civilian Traffic Management

Now we need to keep building the movement to win these demands. Join us this Sunday at the Trans March Community Organizing Meeting to discuss the next steps and find out how you can get involved!

Pride exists because trans people stood up to police violence. This year, San Francisco's Trans March ended with officers in tactical gear. 🏳️‍⚧️

After the march, SFPD moved to arrest people they say were involved in vandalism and assault. It escalated into a confrontation with the crowd and five people were arrested.

To understand why this hit so hard, you have to understand who was watching. This movement started with moments like Compton's Cafeteria, right here in San Francisco, years before Stonewall. And that history isn't distant: UCLA's Williams Institute found trans and nonbinary people are significantly more likely than other LGBTQ+ people to oppose police presence at Pride, because so many have experienced profiling, misgendering, or being dismissed when they reported crimes.

Our community isn't monolithic. The people with the most negative experiences of policing are often the most skeptical of it at Pride — and they're exactly who this response landed on.

Supervisor Jackie Fielder is asking the city to explain what happened, why those tactics were used, and whether other options were considered. PFLAG San Francisco supports that inquiry.

Send this to someone who needs the history behind the headline. Trans people deserve to march without fear, and they deserve a full accounting.
