CUE San Francisco, in collaboration with the McManus family, is honored to announce the second annual Emily McManus Memorial Scholarship, which will provide up to $1,000 to a San Francisco Bay Area-based educator, either towards implementing an innovative student project or attending the Spring CUE 2026 conference in Palm Springs.
Educators who are seeking funding for either of these opportunities should fill out this scholarship application before Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 11:59 pm. The winner of the scholarship will be notified by January 15, 2026
Emily McManus was a member of the CUE San Francisco board. As the librarian at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School in southeast San Francisco, Emily was passionate about children’s literacy, achieving equitable outcomes for all learners, providing students with engaging and innovative learning experiences, and building collegiality among educators. She brought that vision and her can-do attitude to both her work at school and the CUE SF Board, until a sudden medical tragically took her from us all. Emily loved being on the CUE SF Board, and the Board believes that offering this scholarship, which furthers many of the causes she was passionate about, is a fitting way to honor her memory.
