GRGRF GRANTS $328,000 IN 2024, SURPASSING $4.2 MILLION SINCE 1989

This year, the Foundation awarded a record-shattering $328,000 in grants and scholarships, granting more money to more Bay Area LGBTQ nonprofits and students than ever before. FLAGGING IN THE PARK JOINS GRASS ROOTS GAY RIGHTS FOUNDATION’S FUNDRAISING PORTFOLIO

Grass Roots Gay Rights Foundation announced Flagging in the Park, the Bay Area’s unique flow-arts community building event, is now a part of GRGRF. The two groups have enjoyed an 11-year partnership with a shared mission to support and promote a happy, healthy, and connected Bay Area LGBTQ community.

Flagging In The Park is a beloved, quintessentially San Francisco event. It started in 1997 when a small group of flaggers gathered in the newly dedicated National AIDS Memorial Grove to celebrate life through music, dance, and, most importantly, flagging. Twenty-four years later, it’s still going strong as DJs, organizers, and participants donate their time and energy to help raise money for local and national charities.

Over the years, FITP with matching contributions and support from GRGRF has raised more than $345,000 for the LGBTQ community.

The Grass Roots Gay Rights Foundation is proud to annouce the 3rd class of the We Rise LGBTQ Scholarship Program. Born of the notion that helping out an individual lifts our entire community, the program awards $2,500 grants toward school or vocational education with the focus on trade and technical degrees or certificates to help realize dreams, launch careers, and change futures.

After a successful sophomore year run of the scholarship program, we are happy to begin taking applications for the third year of applicants — submissions close May 31, 2024. In support of this work, we ask that you share and promote the scholarship across your social media, or with individuals your social networks you think could benefit from the work. Information and the application form can be found at the attached link.

Last year we were able to grant ten applicants the opportunity to participate; this year we will match that—and you can help us to accomplish more. You may direct your tax-deductible contribution to this program here. We appreciate your enthusiastic support of the Foundation and invite you to make the GRGRF We Rise LGBTQ Scholarship Program part of the way we change lives together.
