Aquarium of the Bay partners with The Bay Institute to protect, restore and inspire the conservation of San Francisco Bay, from the Sierra to the sea. Our passion and our work are locally-focused, but have a broad impact that touches upon every major challenge facing our global environment. We are passionate about providing fun and unforgettable encounters with our natural world in ways that ignite both wonder and conservation. We do this from our 50,000 square foot building at the heart of San Francisco's history and culture. We are nestled in the shadow of Coit Tower and Telegraph Hill on Fisherman’s Wharf at PIER 39, along the City’s “Walkable Waterfront.”

We also own a research vessel and partner with several boat fleets to take our conservation, education and research out on the Bay. Aquarium of the Bay is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), and certified as a Green Business by the city of San Francisco. San Francisco's nonprofit Aquarium of the Bay proudly recognizes Fleetweek 2026! We welcome all military in uniform and veterans with valid military ID to enjoy FREE admission. Accompanying family and/or friends 20% off. Valid October 4 thru October 12, 2026.

San Francisco's nonprofit Aquarium of the Bay Events Team joined Alcatraz City Cruises for their 20th Anniversary Community Day By The Bay Day on Saturday! The annual, FREE family-friendly event celebrates their 20 year partnership with the National Park Service. Several other well known local institutions and attractions were also present for the event.
