Batmunkh Luvsandash won the for Asia at π 81-years-old. π
A former livestock herder, Batmunkh collaborated with Nature Conservancy to map part of Mongoliaβs vast grasslands and document its biodiversity. The result? A 66,000-acre protected area.
In an interview with Yale Environment 360, Batmunkh noted, "I never aimed for any national or international prizes." Rather, he was motivated by a love for his country, its nature, and its herder communities.
