Crownmasters Toastmasters Club

Crownmasters Toastmasters Club Crownmasters is mainly composed of business professionals because of its downtown/SOMA location. Which style you prefer is a personal decision.

We meet every Thursday from 12:05pm to 1pm PST (Please email us at [email protected] to verify the location of each meeting you wish to attend because from time-to-time it changes based on the availability of our main meeting room.) The topics and basic thrust of club is helping professionals improve their professional public speaking. Other clubs exist that focus on improv and performance

or on a particular areas like real estate or finance. In addition, while supportive, the members of Crownmasters do give constructive criticism. If you visit other clubs, you will find some where the “evaluation” given is all positive and constructive criticism seems to be discouraged. Finally, since it is composed of professionals, everyone in this club has a life – both work and personal – outside of the club. Therefore, members on a number of occasions disappear from the club for months on end because of the pressures of work or otherwise. No one is made to feel bad for absence. Also, for the same reasons, members get to speak on their own schedule. Some members ask to give a prepared speech once or twice a month. Others have not given a prepared speech in over a year. Also, over time, many members have concluded, that unlike riding a bike, if they want to maintain a certain level of proficiency in public speaking, they need to have regular practice. Crownmasters is conveniently located, and the lunch meeting time means that every Wednesday, if you look at your lunch schedule and it’s free, you can go stand up in front of others and practice speaking before an audience. Come check out the club for yourself. You can come as many times as you want with no obligation. We look forward to meeting you!

Several years ago a handful of high school students showed up to my Toastmasters club, and as anyone who has been to a meeting knows, we enjoy having guests. Fantastic Open House last week. Thought we over ordered with 25 box lunches, but we had only two left, and not everybody ate! Couple of guest came up later to ask for applications to join.

Good meeting!

New research shows the sound of a person's voice strongly influences how he or she is seen. Annoyed listeners often assume nothing can be done to change an irritating voice. But people's voices can be improved through therapy, coaching or feedback.

Great meeting today! Gregg was our TM, and the theme of the meting was coffee. Gregg shared a lot of funny info on coffee. Jackie gave a great speech no 3 about sales techniques on the phone, and Kazu gave a humorous speech about a past flight. Gregg's table topic were hilarious, and then the meeting concluded with a fantastic evaluation session.
