October 17th- 25th, 2026 join the Dignity in Schools Campaign for Assembly Required, a virtual film festival celebrating the stories, struggles, and resistance of communities fighting for justice and a better future.

From grassroots organizing and education justice to African diasporic histories and the politics of artificial intelligence, these powerful films challenge us to confront systems of repression, honor the people building alternatives, and imagine what becomes possible when our communities come together to demand change.

Among the featured films will be blueish purple's episode of On The Ground Featuring Coleman Advocates, airing on October 19th at 5pm PAC.

Meet Raymond Whitley, Coleman Advocates’ new Community Engagement Specialist!

For Raymond, community engagement isn't just a career. It's a lifelong commitment rooted in his upbringing in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood.

Growing up in a family that opened its doors to neighbors and supported those in need, Raymond learned early that meaningful change begins with relationships.

That foundation inspired years of incredible community work, from organizing backpack giveaways that grew to serve over 1,100 children, to supporting families during COVID-19, advancing violence prevention, and building stronger connections between schools and their communities.

Now, Raymond is bringing that experience and passion to Coleman Advocates, where his mission aligns with our commitment to empowering students and families.

Raymond believes lasting change happens when communities have the opportunity to speak for themselves and help shape their futures.

SFUSD is calling for direction on how to redraw the lines defining where those in our community will be attending schools. The district claims they have been reaching out to communities in an equitable way, but their own data does not support this claim.

Stop Suspending Our Students’ Success has been a major undertaking and a true organization-wide collaboration at Coleman Advocates. From research and data analysis to community voices, policy, writing, editing, design, outreach, and countless conversations along the way, so many members of our team have helped bring this report to life.

And now, it’s real. The report has officially been sent to print!

Next week, we’ll unveil it at our Stop Suspending Our Students’ Success Campaign & Report Launch, where we’ll share our findings, our demands, and a path forward toward safer, more supportive and equitable schools for San Francisco students.

This last Saturday we had a blast at the Urban League of Greater San Francisco Bay Area’s Annual Empowerment Awards & Leadership Gala At the Oakland Museum of California!

We are grateful to continue to grow in our capacity to expand the development of social change and empowerment for those in the communities we serve, thanks in part to connections like the Urban League of Greater San Francisco Bay Area!
