«Бабин Яр». Голосами»: пам'ять, яка говорить.
Дорогі друзі, ділимося емоціями, світлинами та думками після недільної вистави «Голосами» від театру Мандрівні Зірки, що діє при неприбутковій організації Hromada. Ukrainian Hall San Francisco цього вечора став місцем тиші, сліз і спільної пам'яті.
Вистава створена за віршами Маріанни Кіяновської. У них говорять ті, кого змусили замовкнути назавжди. Актори повернули ці голоси на сцену, і зал слухав їх, затамувавши подих.
Бабин Яр у Києві є одним із найстрашніших символів Голокосту. Лише за два дні, 29–30 вересня 1941 року, нацисти розстріляли тут 33 771 єврея: жінок, дітей, людей похилого віку. За два роки окупації, за оцінками істориків, в урочищі було вбито близько 100 тисяч людей:
Приблизно дві третини загиблих були євреями;
роми, чиї табори знищували цілими родинами;
десятки тисяч радянських військовополонених, зокрема в'язні Сирецького табору;
621 учасник українського національного підпілля, серед них поетеса Олена Теліга;
752 пацієнти психіатричної лікарні імені Павлова;
заручники, підпільники та мирні кияни різних національностей.
За кожною цифрою стоїть ім'я, родина, обірване життя. Десятиліттями радянська влада намагалася стерти цю пам'ять, і яр засипали, забудовували, замовчували.
Сьогодні, коли вже п'ятий рік триває геноцидна війна путінської росії проти України, слова «ніколи знову» звучать болісно. 1 березня 2022 року російські ракети вдарили поруч із Бабиним Яром, і на цій землі знову загинули люди. Буча, Ізюм, Маріуполь, депортовані діти, знищені міста: світ знову бачить спробу стерти цілий народ. Тому пам'ятати означає не лише вшановувати загиблих, а й боротися за живих.

"Babyn Yar. In Voices": Memory That Speaks
Dear friends, we are sharing our emotions, photos, and reflections after Sunday's performance of "In Voices" ("Holosamy") by the Mandrivni Zirky theater, which operates under the nonprofit organization Hromada. That evening, Ukrainian Hall San Francisco became a place of silence, tears, and shared memory.
The performance is based on the poems of Marianna Kiyanovska. In them, those who were silenced forever speak again. The actors brought these voices back to the stage, and the audience listened with bated breath.
Babyn Yar in Kyiv is one of the most horrific symbols of the Holocaust. In just two days, September 29–30, 1941, the N***s shot 33,771 Jews here: women, children, and the elderly. Over the two years of occupation, historians estimate that about 100,000 people were murdered in the ravine:
roughly two-thirds of the victims were Jews;
Roma, whose camps were wiped out as entire families;
tens of thousands of Soviet prisoners of war, including inmates of the Syrets camp;
621 members of the Ukrainian national underground, among them the poet Olena Teliha;
752 patients of the Pavlov Psychiatric Hospital;
hostages, resistance members, and civilian residents of Kyiv of various nationalities.
Behind every number is a name, a family, a life cut short. For decades, the Soviet authorities tried to erase this memory, and the ravine was filled in, built over, and kept silent.
Today, as Putin's Russia wages the fifth year of its genocidal war against Ukraine, the words "never again" are painful to hear. On March 1, 2022, Russian missiles struck near Babyn Yar, and people died on this ground once more. Bucha, Izium, Mariupol, deported children, destroyed cities: the world is again witnessing an attempt to erase an entire people. That is why remembering means not only honoring the dead, but also fighting for the living.
