CALI & CO dance/Christine Cali

CALI & CO dance/Christine Cali CALI & CO dance company classes, performances, residencies and MORE! Art is how we find meaning and understanding of this odd and mysterious existence.

As an ARTIST, Cali interested in creating works that are poignant and revelatory; works that (de)construct social norms and openly challenge constructs of gender, race and class. Meshing form and technique with improvisation; precision with wild abandon; motion with words; body with technology; Cali crafts her dances from an unapologetic, present, mindful, articulate and daring state. Cali seeks t

hrough dance to expose, make safe, unhinge, bind and reshape how we move through this peculiar life. As a TEACHER: Cali knows that bodies want to MOVE! Whether those are bodies of water, human bodies, animals, plants etc... life MOVES for as long as we're lucky enough to be here. Bodies want to move in concert with our environment. Bodies want to move in concert with other humans. Bodies want to move in concert with ourselves. Cali is interested in teaching the song of dance for functionality and efficiency; for expression and sensorial awareness; for sanity and insanity; for fear and love, for community, for performance, for keeping people alive physically, spiritually, mentally; for helping people toward death...I am interested in spiraling humans into motion toward continually seeking their potential (which is limitless in this lifetime). As a PERFORMER: I am animal, raw, proficient, incomplete, messy, ferocious, graceful, ugly, dynamic, arrested by thought and sensation, breath, history, patterns and circumstance, unknown and disappearing, unraveling, taking shape and flying. I am underground and smiley faced. I am a body of resistance; a body of circumstance; a body of water, light and sight. I am a body of life and death; a body of wrongs and rights, a body of dark and light...and all the little spaces in between and beyond that I and you will know and un-know. I bring this to the stage...what will you bring???
