Healthy Mothers Workplace To Improve the Health of Working Parents and Their Infants Employers must submit their complete assessments by August 7, 2013, World Breastfeeding Day.

The Coalition and community partners have developed the Healthy Mothers Workplace Award for Excellence in Maternal Health and Equity that will recognize San Francisco employers with policies that support the well-being of their workers. Starting on May 9, 2013, San Francisco employers can complete a self-assessment of their policies related to parental leave, lactation accommodation, and work-fami

ly balance. The pilot assessment asks employers whether their workplace has adopted certain policies identified by community leaders as integral for the health and equity of women in the workplace. Workplaces that meet the necessary criteria will earn the a certificate and distinction of a “Healthy Mothers Workplace Award of Excellence.” All award-winners will be honored at a ceremony on September 9, 2013. The Coalition has also developed a Healthy Mothers Workplace Toolkit, which provides a comprehensive check-list for mothers and employers, model policies, and resources.
