Partnership on AI

Partnership on AI A non-profit partnership bringing together academic, civil society, industry, and media organization

We believe that artificial intelligence technologies hold great promise for raising the quality of people’s lives and can be leveraged to help humanity address important global challenges such as climate change, food, inequality, health, and education. We develop tools, recommendations, and other resources by inviting voices from across the AI community and beyond to share insights that can be syn

thesized into actionable guidance. We then work to drive adoption in practice, inform public policy, and advance public understanding. Through dialogue, research, and education, PAI is addressing the most important and difficult questions concerning the future of AI. Our mission is to bring diverse voices together across global sectors, disciplines, and demographics so developments in AI advance positive outcomes for people and society.

AI is reinventing how journalists write news, but this technology is also helping newsrooms connect with readers and reach new audiences.

"If we think of AI as a support tool in a lot of these various arenas, we get a lot more mileage out of what AI can actually do," PAI's Dalia Hashim explains in Nieman Reports: https://niemanreports.org/articles/artificial-intelligence-newsrooms/

As AI capabilities rapidly develop, the machine learning community needs a coordinated community effort to anticipate and mitigate the potential harms of this technology.

The few experimental ethics review practices that exist have been met with mixed concerns, highlighting the need for shared best practices.

In this Nature Machine Intelligence commentary, PAI staff, Partners and collaborators recommend three steps:
