Nihonmachi Little Friends

Nihonmachi Little Friends Preschool & After School Program Nihonmachi Little Friends (NLF) is a full-day, Japanese, multicultural childcare organization.

Its preschool-age programs operate from 7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday, and provide stimulating developmental activities for 2.10 to 5 years olds. Children must be toilet-trained prior to enrollment. Our After School Program (ASP) is a Japanese bilingual, multicultural school-age childcare program serving Kindergarted through fifth graders. It is open from 1:00 to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, during the regular school year.

NLF invites the community to celebrate its 50th Anniversary on Friday, November 21, 2025, at 5:30 pm at St. Mary’s Cathedral, in San Francisco’s historic Japantown.

The evening will be emceed by .katsuyama , KTVU Fox 2 Reporter, and will feature a gourmet tasting experience that includes NLF’s award-winning curry, an array of savory dishes, desserts, and sushi prepared by Chef Nori Sasaki. Guests will also enjoy fine sake and wine curated by Todd Eng and Meg Kawamoto of . Performances by Melody Takata of , Francis Wong of .improvarts , and children from NLF’s program will enliven the celebration and highlight the rich cultural traditions that have been central to NLF’s mission.

Early bird registration is available at $150 per person through November 1st; after this date, tickets are $175.

All proceeds will directly support NLF’s programs and Building Fund.
