As fear and misinformation continue to affect immigrant families across Napa County, trusted, accurate information matters more than ever. This story by highlights the trusted network of local organizations and community leaders working to make sure immigrants know their rights, understand the resources available to them, and have somewhere they can turn for reliable guidance.

“I think what this administration has done is created so much fear that people no longer feel safe, and no longer know where to go or who to turn to,” Madeline Hernandez, IIBA’s North Bay Regional Directing Attorney, who spoke about the impact the current climate is having on immigrant communities.

This week, IIBA team members from across the Bay Area gathered in San Jose for a two-day Affirmative Relief training hosted by the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (Immigrant Legal Resource Center).
From immigration law updates to asylum and family-based immigration, our team gained valuable knowledge to continue providing high-quality legal services to immigrant communities. ❤️

IIBA was proud to co-sponsor an in-person regional listening session with community partners to help inform policy guidance for California’s next gubernatorial administration.

Alongside the Alameda County Community Food Bank, Alliance for Boys and Men of Color, Asian Prisoner Support Committee, California Immigrant Policy Center, Centro Legal de la Raza, CERI East Bay, and Refugee and Immigrant Transitions, we brought community members and leaders together to discuss issues affecting immigrant communities across the region.

We’re grateful to everyone who contributed their time, insight, and experience to this important conversation.

The Board of Supervisors today approved a proclamation recognizing the need for the community to join in fostering mental health, offering compassion and support to those in need, and working together towards the shared goal of reducing su***des and building a healthier, more resilient community.

✨ Celebrating Jocelyn! ✨

After two impactful years, Jocelyn G.-Bal has completed her Equal Justice Works Fellowship at IIBA, serving more than 300 immigrants and family members and helping strengthen support for survivors of trafficking and other serious crimes. ❤️

And the best part? Jocelyn isn’t going anywhere! 🎉 We’re so excited that she’ll continue this important work at IIBA as a Staff Attorney.
