Dear fellow Paniquenians,
REYNALDO ALCANTARA
Feb. 10, 1942 - Oct. 22, 2025

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our dear friend and the loving husband of our kababayan, Milagros Pazcoguin-Alcantara of Daly City, California.

Below, you’ll find the obituary shared to me by his family:

“Reynaldo Alcantara was born on February 10, 1942 and passed away October 22, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Manila and raised in San Juan Rizal, Philippines, he attended the University of the Philippines and University of the East (UE) earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

Rey immigrated to the United States to create a new life with his wife Mila. He proudly served the City and County of San Francisco for more than 30 years in numerous leadership roles in finance and accounting and served as president for one of the largest unions in San Francisco. He was known to colleagues for his knowledge, generosity,and integrity.

With family always being his first priority, Rey retired early to care for his grandchildren. As a father, Rey took immense pride in his sons and supported them in every chapter of their lives. He was a constant source of motivation, strength, and encouragement.

Rey found in his daughters-in-law Alma and Jeniffer the loving daughters he never had. He mentioned often how blessed he was to have them in his life.

Rey found his greatest joy with his grandchildren. He was their personal storyteller, historian, and most loving supporter. He would drop everything at a moment’s notice for any of his grandchildren. His biggest satisfaction in life was being a part of their everyday lives.

As a husband, Rey stood side by side to Mila for more than 53 years. Their story was a testament of lasting and unconditional love. They were literally inseparable throughout their entire journey.

Reynaldo is survived by his wife Milagros, sons Ronald and Richard, daughters-in-law Alma and Jeniffer, and grandchildren Riley, Caelyn, Analiyah, Reuel, Ryan, and Camryn.”

“Eternal rest grant unto the soul of Reynaldo Alcantara O, Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen”

Dear Fellow Paniquenians,

+++DELIA DE DIOS+++
February 4, 1943 - August 29, 2025
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It is with great sorrow to let the Paniquenians community know about the passing of our sister-Christ, Delia De Dios of Vallejo, California on August 29, 2025.
Below, you’ll find a beautiful obituary shared to me by her grieving family:
“Today, we remember Delia De Dios - a devoted wife, a cherished mother, and nurturing grandmother. Her life is filled with beautiful moments, and her love continues to shine brightly in our hearts.
Delia was born on February 4, 1943 in Calasiao, Pangasinan.
She was known to be generous, kind, and loving. While working as a pharmacy clerk in her hometown, she met the love of her life, Eliezer. From the moment they met, they shared a deep love and a dream of raising a family.
As a mother, she devoted her life to her four children:
Edwin, Boots, Edgar, and Hazel. Delia is the heart and love that holds our family together. Her life reminds us to love without limits.
As a grandmother, her love only grew. She cherishes every laugh, hug, and moment with them. They will forever carry the warmth of her embrace in their hearts.
Though she is no longer with us physically, her spirit lives on through the memories we hold dear. Delia is survived by her loving husband, Eliezer De Dios of Paniqui, Tarlac; four children, seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Mama, you are one of a kind. Your love, your laughter, and your spirit will live on in us. We'll miss you terribly, but we are so grateful for the life and love you give every day.”
“Eternal rest grant unto the soul of Delia De Dios O, Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace Amen”
Dear Fellow Paniquenians,
CARMEN AGALA PALARCA
Sep. 10, 1942 - May 9, 2025
It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our sister-in-Christ, Carmen Agala Palarca.
She was born on September 10, 1942, in San Miguel, Philippines, to Librado and Illuminada Agala. The middle child of five, Carmen was known for her independence and fearless spirit. From a young age, she earned the nickname "Kulasa" (Tagalog for "mischievous girl"), a reflection of her adventurous nature. One of her fondest childhood memories was jumping off moving trains with fistfuls of sugar canes, followed by naps in the shade of nearby trees.
After earning her Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Far Eastern University, Carmen returned to San Miguel to work at Central Azucarera de Tarlac in their research lab. It was here that she met young engineer Romeo Palarca, sparking a friendship that would blossom into love. Their courtship was far from conventional. Rumor has it that while Carmen was busy at work, Romeo stole a kiss on the back of her neck. Unfazed, Carmen returned home and jokingly enlisted her cousins to "teach him a lesson." Cooler heads prevailed, and the playful incident marked the beginning of their relationship.
To satisfy her thirst for adventure, Carmen made her way to North America, first settling in Cochrane, Ontario, where she lived in a convent and worked at Lady Minto Hospital. She then moved to Vancouver and her travels ultimately brought her to San Francisco, where she found an apartment in the Haight-Ashbury district. Throughout this time, she maintained a long-distance relationship with Romeo through love letters. They reunited in San Francisco and married on July 19, 1969. They chose the Sunset District as the place to start their life together, building a beautiful family.
Carmen found her calling in health sciences, dedicating over 30 years of service at the University of California, San Francisco as a Medical Technologist. Carmen and Romeo raised their children with strong Catholic values and were active parishioners at Holy Name of Jesus Church. While no longer in the Philippines, she quickly found community from her Paniquenians and UCSF extended families and friends. Those bonds remained strong throughout her life. Carmen's legacy lives on in the hearts of her three children and their spouses—Romencita "Menchie" Palarca and Douglas Wong, Charles and Ria Bello Palarca, and William Palarca and Allison Bridger—along with her five grandchildren: Daniel, Madison, Chloe, Marina, and Ella. She is survived by sister-in-law Sonia, wife of the late Philomeno, and by siblings Ted and his wife Elena Agala, and Lorraine Foucault as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, godchildren and numerous extended family members and friends. She is predeceased by siblings Illdelfonsa and Philomeno.
Carmen had many passions outside of her career and family life. She enjoyed ballroom dancing with her husband Romeo, tending to her garden and shopping sprees on QVC. Whether hosting or attending, Carmen was always the life of the party, often staying until the very end. Her love extended far beyond her own children—she treated her nieces and nephews as her own, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
Despite facing multiple health challenges throughout her life, Carmen’s vitality and spirit never dimmed. Her fire remained bright to the very end, and she passed peacefully on May 9, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. As she embarks on her next adventure, Carmen’s legacy will forever live in the hearts of those who loved her.
Dear Fellow Paniquenians:
The Paniquenians community of the San Francisco Bay Area, California would like to extend their deepest sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family of Jimmy S. Jimenez for his untimely death.
“Eternal rest grant unto Jimmy S. Jimenez O, Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen”.
Note: Below please find the Obituary shared to us by the family of the deceased.
“It is with great sadness that Amado (Jimmy) Sudla Jimenez, Jr. joined our creator on February 15, 2024 at the age of 72. He is survived by his wife Dolores (Dolly) Flores-Jimenez, daughter Jillian Frances, and son Adam Niño.
Jimmy was born and raised in Makati City, Philippines with three sisters and a brother. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology at Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines and worked at De los Santos General Hospital in Quezon City, Philippines where he met his wife, Dolly.
They immigrated to the United States in 1982 and he worked at St. Mary’s Hospital and California Pacific Medical Center, both in San Francisco, until he retired. He was so dedicated to his job that he never called in sick. He enjoyed what he did and Jimmy was loved by everyone who knew him there: security guards, cafeteria workers, auxiliary nurses, and all staff.
Jimmy loved to travel the world, from Europe to Asia, climbing the Wall of China, Manchu Picchu, Angkor Wat, kissing the Blarney Stone. He also explored the Philippines (Sagada, Rice Terraces Mountain province, Batanes, Ilocos, Visaya, Mindanao). More locally, Jimmy spent every summer camping with his immediate and extended family. It was a yearly tradition.
A selfless and caring man, during Covid, Jimmy wanted to help local relatives out by making weekly meals for them, which Dolly lovingly called “Meals on Wheels.” He even spent time curating a different weekly menu. He enjoyed cooking and wanted to share with relatives.
Jimmy really loved music, a trait he passed down to his children. From Elvis and The Beatles to The Doors and Led Zeppelin, he had a large collection of records and cassette tapes. He constantly played his records while gardening or relaxing in the sunshine. Along with music, Jimmy shared his passion for San Francisco sports with his family.
Jimmy will be deeply missed.
